BMW 2 series Active Tourer

When they put a straight-six upfront I'll be interested ;-)

I will be distancing myself from BMW later this year when my 1 series will be swapped. 1 is a great handling car but not without issue and certainly not the ultimate driving machine.

You are missing a 326bhp six under the bonnet. Get one and you'll be loving it I reckon ;-)

Front Wheel Drive?   It is just a big Mini.     BMW is moving away from what everybody knows it for, the 2 series is just an FR-V or Zafira even if it does get 326bhp the owner will be broadcasting to everybody that he is a breeder and this is the closest thing I can get to a fast car as the wife needs to get the pram in the back!

I must say an interesting car from the functional point of view. Ugly as sin and pointless due to FWD.

No sorry I was referring to the current RWD 1-series. Feels good with 326bhp :-) In the spirit of ultimate driving machine at least lol.

I agree with what you are saying about the 2AT and forthcoming FWD 1-series. Don't fancy that. BMW will be losing its "BMW-ness"!

Now I was actually joking when I typed that, they will stick the M badge on anything these days!

and Skoda will paint anything race blue these days too !  :D

And, unlke all standard BMWs, it's FWD......eeek!

Based on the mini.

Well, it's better than the 2 series "Gran Coupe" I suppose. But unless you buy into the Bayerische Mist Wagon brand* I struggle to see what it offers that a C-Max, Vw Touran?, Nissan Cashcow et al don't.

*There are BMWs I would consider, but we're mostly talking "normal" coupes or saloons there; not "marketing specials".

It's to stop people who've just had kids and need more seats defecting away.

Now they have their BMW MPV until the rug rats are big enough for them to go back to their M Sport

What ever you do, don't under estimate them. Not sure what engines are in them. I was behind one last week, the thing could out perform my vrs. The one time when I did give it a bit of beans when we both over took a car, the bmw was pulling away.

I was going home a bit quick a couple of weeks ago and one of these tried to have a race with me down a dual carriageway (I don't condone road racing, but at the same time, I don't hang about when it's knocking off time).

It makes you wonder what goes through some people's head when they realise their brand new 15 plate BMW can't keep up with a 12 year old diesel Seat Ibiza that probably cost less than their satnav

You're now also presuming that I'd buy into the modern fiction that a toddler needs you to transport more than its parents' combined body mass of lumber everywhere you take it.

I haven't seen one again since. I can only assume the owners have accepted their shame and changed the front badge to something more upmarket for MPVs like Hyundai

I've only seen one on the roads, nice blue colour but that's where the nice bit stopped.

This is defo BMW trying to take VAG sales....................I had a look at one for a laugh...............the VW Golf SV is way better in looks & function IMO..........

BUT then it has one major problem for some people..................

The badge is not BWM....................... :D

By the way I have seen several of the Golf SV on the roads up here & it's a good looker, in fact almost bought one, but went for the Golf Estate instead.

Some parents would believe if you dare have 2 children you need a double decker bus
