What type of DSG glitch?  

 

Surely not on what must be the most tested before Launch Skoda with DSG after they have had to Recall & do Service Campaigns on 

Millions of the Boxes World Wide.

So the original manufacturer warranty is unaffected? Sounds too good to be true. I suspect you are relying on an ABT warranty not a skoda one.

Everywhere else in Europe, VAG dealers sell ABT as a factory approved upgrade and you pay a premium for it. In the UK we pay £250-£500 for a remap. The ABT one is €2000/£1500 fitted with the full warranty package. But no matter what happens, the dealers will fix it under warranty.

While Authorised Dealers are carrying out the Warranty work, is it the Manufacturers Original Warranty that is Paying for the Warranty Work 

and are they the Underwriters.?  Or are you actually buying a Warranty Provided by a Underwriter for ABT?

There used to be Volkswagen Group Dealers in the UK that were REVO Dealers and told Car Buyers that the Original Manufacturers Warranty would still be Valid. where actually it was not.

Ahh ok, so abit like the partnership between AC Shnitzer and BMW a few years ago (now ACS offer their own warranty as no longer bmw ''approved").

Much more expensive but worth it to some for the peace of mind.

However it's not entirely clear on the ABT website. This is what it says:

Seems to suggest you won't keep your manufacturer warranty in Germany but will get an ABT one instead... Hopefully ABT are good at paying out in a "no quibble" manner if anything goes wrong.

I drive a 981 Porsche Cayman normally. But, this week (we're on Holiday - dogs on board etc I've been driving around in my Wife's 2011 1.2 Tfsi (105) DSG

 

Does the Skoda have a "my other car is a Porsche" sticker? :D

A friend has a Sticker on his Porsche that reads

The dealer you buy the car from handles the warranty claim. VAG and ABT sort it out between them afterwards. As you say, it's a no-quibble option.

And you pay EXTRA for the warranty. €400 for 1 year, through to €800 for 3 years. So it's €1600 for the remap and €800 for the warranty. It's not cheap, but if it breaks, your VAG dealer fixes it.

Some of us looked at the ABT Power Increasement for the 1.4 TSI Twincharger , it is a Tuning Box not a Re-map.

 

Which Engines are we talking here that are in the 3rd Generation Fabia 2015 which ABT do Remaps for?

They have two products for the 1.4TSi. One is a CANBus interceptor box and the other is a conventional remap. You can't really compare the CANBus interceptor box to a Tuning box because the tuning box only monitors and modifies the signals to the MAF, boost controller and camshaft (revs) sensor whereas the interceptor box plugs in in series with the ECU and monitors all the parameters the ECU has access to and can modify all the outputs accordingly.

Thank you.   & then they give the same results, eg taking the 180ps minimum to 210ps. 

It will be interesting to see if any engines fitted with the Piggy Back Boxes failed just the same as standard engines have.

No1 an only Son (on his dear old Dad's sage advice) just viewed a Honda Jazz.

So at best the Fabia now in 3rd place after the Jazz and i20.

Plus good "run-out" deals coming on the table, with the new model due soon.

If he's looking at a Honda Jazz then he may as well look at a Nissan Note as well, neither would be a car I'd choose but they both have their merits.

Looks and space wise I would, similar tech and prices as well, aimed at the same market too.

I don't know what you're getting at, Nissan v Honda is hardly the same as Dacia v BMW, they're both Japanese manufacturers making cars in Britain for the same markets in the same class of cars for the same price.

I'm not arguing with you, especially as this is a Skoda forum talking about the Fabia, just giving you my opinion.

Why? My wife has a new Note, but we looked at the Jazz also before deciding. Similar price, same segment, similar quality, same practicality. What are you getting at?

That Honda engineering is at a different level to Nissan engineering.

And in our canny local agricultural community the 2 car brands that dont break down, by local repute,  are Toyota and Honda.

Honda unfortunately dont make proper 4*4s or working pick-ups.

No offence intended as I too, seriously looked at a "Note" the last time round.

Oops (an not a word o a lie)

Just recommended to No1 son, that the Nissan Note, looks a cracking good buy second hand.

Cheap tax/good mpg's

despite the 3 out of 5 Honest John  rating and the comments about "cheap" hard plastic and fabrics inside.(which confirms my feelings/comments as above)

Or a new Fabia Mk3 with no tax, soft finishings good styling on the inside, quality switches and dials..

as opposed to cheap and nasty japanese plastic with numbers on buttons which will rub off in a year and lightweight doors made of tinfoil, which won't help anyone in a side-on impact..

cough cough, it is not my impression Skoda's finish/longivity and QC is all it is cracked up to be, observing the wear and tear in our late 2010 Octavia over 4.5 years/73,500 miles, with various bits falling off from the get-go.

that said I hope to take another 10 years out of the car.

when I traded in my Mk1 on Monday for my Mk3.. it was described as "absolute immaculate" by the dealer.. 12.5years old with 222396 miles on the clock.. he said its condition was light years ahead of cars with 20 to 30000 on the clock.. he couldn't believe it and not one bit dropping off it!

The Jazz suffers from the same thing as the i20. Older engine designs that aren't as fuel efficient and expensive to tax!
