Do citigo owners get a brake grind

Featured Replies

I'm coming upto 20k and mine have been grinding for as long as I can remember. When I get back from honeymoon I'll get it in for a service and mention the brakes.

My Sport has had grinding front brakes from about 5k - there is quite a noticable lip on the front disks now too with only 12k on the clock

Mine has completed just over 10,000 miles and is still quiet. Luck of the draw? The rear drums have gone very rusty on the outside though. Gave them a quick touch up paint. Need to remove them for a proper job.

I think it would not be impossible that they have installed different kind of pads at the factory. Maybe it depends when the car is made. One car may have brake pads which includes metal, another got organic brake pads. Depending when the car was made.

Same matter with other sisters. Brake lining material may differ, even though brake pads looks the same (or spare part number is the same. Or is it even?).

Citigo,Mii and Up all share the same and are same part numbers.

No, not always. For example armrest, and sun blinds have different part numbers. I haven't check part numbers for genuine brake pads yet. Have you?

I meant the brake parts only.

Could you tell the part number for genuine Škoda brake pads? It would help my Google searching for Seat and vw brake parts.

Like many parts, pads will be bought in batches from possibly two or more suppliers. These pads will go out to the factory as OEM fitment and put to dealers as service parts.

You will also get a variety of pad types. Proper ceramics are unlikely to be available for such low performance cars, so you will be getting some level of metal in an organic binder. As it wears, different ratios of binder and metal will be at the surface, so sound will change.

Add in the pad carrier arrangement of this caliper, with it's open ended fork, which will be prone to lower resonant frequency than a closed design, it is no wonder that you get a bit of brake noise.
