Aircon controller. 6Y0 820 045

Scan has revealed the Auto HVAC module has died. Is the module part of the heater/aircon control panel in the centre dash which has the same part number as the scan shows or is there a separate module. Strange thing is the aircon seems to work although it's difficult to tell in winter.

I included the Central electrics scan as well as it shows three fault codes. Car starts and runs fine and the horn and rear screen demister work fine too. I hope the module is just having a winge about it being cold.

As an interesting side note I have been looking for an induction leak giving a 16555 weak mixture code and think I have found it with a new oil filler cap O ring. The old one was hard and brittle and I suspect allowing air to be drawn in to the rocker cover and fed to the intake. Since fitting the 'spare' off the dummy cap held under the engine cover the code has not come back and the engine runs better.

The problem has been previously discussed here. Maybe the OP could give you some advise.

I have looked at that thread previously and many others. My main problem is to locate the position of the aircon module so that I can test the wiring and/or replace the module. Is it part of the dash aircon/heater switch assembly?

I suppose it must be.

Thanks, Nigel

LB123, Did you get to the bottom of the aircon module? I have the same fault code.

Thanks

Is there any problem, or just that code?

Edit: the HVAC module is a circuit board right behind the temperature/vent direction dials and switches.

Edit2: I'm reasonably sure that this module in my Polo reliably gives this fault code, but has no discernible misbehaviour.

Sorry I missed this and thanks for the reply. The Aircon makes a wining sounds that increases with engine speed. The aircon works fine, the noise is annoying
