Although it pains me to say I am putting by beloved Fabia VRS SE up for sale. :'(

 

I have finally succumbed to the pressure from the family to get a more sensible car.

 

A lot of you will already know the car as it has been the subject of various threads both from myself and its previous owner “Bossfox” – to be fair the previous threads were far more interesting.

 

The car is the “09” plate Fabia VRS se and has the fitting plate of “SE09FAB” which is included in the sale.

 

It was modified by Jabbasport to Stage 3 in 2011 when it had c22,000 miles on the clock and has the following modifications, in no particular order;

 

Garret G25 hybrid turbo (This was stripped and fully maintained last year including new actuator)

Custom Downpipe

Pro Alloy Intercooler

Milltek exhaust

Helix Sintered paddle clutch with Solid flywheel (lightened and balanced)

Oil Cooler

Devils own Water methanol injection (Will include methanol)

Quaife LSD

KW3 Suspension (three way adjustable)

Front and Rear ARB

Brembo front Brakes – New Ferodo 2500 pads Dec 2014

ECS 2 piece rear brakes

Fully Polybushed all round

Jabbaspot cone in a box filter

 

Being the Fabia VRS it does benefit from extras namely;

 

Full leather with front seats piped in Blue and including the unique se number embossed “201” in this case.

Cruise Control

Privacy Glass

6 CD interchanger

 

This car also benefits from having factory fitted rear parking sensors.

 

I have also added an R32 steering wheel – a fantastic mod which I purchased brand new.

 

Also I have a G-Lock on the seatbelts which is also a great mod, especially with the leather seats.

 

The car sits on 17inc Octavia VRS alloys.

 

Has just had a brand new set of Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres fitted.

 

You may be aware from my threads that the car had a replacement engine as the block on the previous one cracked. At the time that this was done (ie a year ago, 10,000 miles) the water pump and cam belt was replaced (as it made sense) and also the clutch slave cylinder.

All in all the cost of the replacement engine, parts and turbo refurbishment was £4,000 of which I have receipts.

 

With regards to receipts I do have a folder full that run into £000’s – I haven’t totted them up but not far off a number beginning with 2, that isn’t £2, £20, £200 or £2,000 !!!,  admittedly they are not all for new mods but repairs and servicing too but all the same a lot of money has been spent.

 

Following the replacement of the engine I did take the car to Shark performance in Mansfield to be checked over and to make sure the performance was still similar.

 

The dyno showed 253bhp and 400lbft torque so no loss in power.

 

I have always driven the car with a degree of mechanical sympathy and allow the car to warm up both before and after a spirited drive. I have down a couple of track days around Blyton, where to be honest it comes into its own as the suspension set-up is fantastic coupled with the traction from the LSD. Many have commented on how well it goes around the track.

 

Forgot to add – the car has just clicked over to 50,000 miles so is still low for a 6 year old car.

 

The Bad Bits

As with all cars there are some bad or should I say non-perfect things;

 

The air-con doesn’t work – Has never been an issue with me as to be honest I prefer to open the windows on a hot day.

There are the usual stone chips (they all have them) and the car has a small dint in the roof which it has had since I owned it and see it more as a birth mark!

A couple of the Wheels could benefit from a refurb.

Now for the bit you are all interest in, the price. I am looking at £8,500 which I think is reasonable based on its spec and how much has been spent on it (it owes me a lot more!!)

 

I have really enjoyed this car and it always puts a smile on my face whenever I get behind the wheel.

The best mk1 Fabia money can buy imo

Fantastic car. I've been out in it and it has had the very best components used in the build. I would however get the Aircon sorted.

Hopefully finds a good owner.

An SE with 50k miles sells these days for around £5,500 privately.
To get it to this spec you would then have to spend over £10,000 on top.
The suspension alone is £1,200, because when it was built in 2011, it was not done to a budget.
Then there is the locking diff, intercooler, meth kit, exhaust, turbo, big brakes, etc...

Plus you are forgetting the unique thing about this car... It's an 09 plate mk1 Fabia.
So not only the latest registered Fabia VRS SE, but possibly the last mk1 Fabia ever registered.

I've been doing Skoda shows, meets and been on this forum for over four years, but I've never seen any other mk1 Fabias on 09 plates or later.

I may have been critical about SE prices in general before, but this is a well sorted car (agree, does need AirCon done though) that will only appeal to a small market. And the cost is very sensible to that small group.

If I wasn't in the process of sorting out the Citigo, Skyline and Yeti I'd already be heading North with my trailer...

I used to use it for beating M3s.

Understand about mods, but this is priced only £2,500 - £3,000 over an 07 plate SE with similar miles.

Only it's newer, rarer and has over £10,000 of mods.

Please forgive my ignorance, but didn' they stop producing the SE edition in March 2007 ?

Being on a 2009 plate some 2 years after production stopped, does that possibly mean someone moth-balled it for that time differential period?

An utterly fantastic car and I'd be fairly sure that Richard WOULD snap this up in a heartbeat again, just more cars than fingers and toes at present. Not seen this since it was sold but would vouch for the car.

GLWTS Dazza, if DVLA didn't have hold of my license I'd be over this like a rash.

GLWTS it's the ultimate Fabia in my opinion and my favourite one off here.

I genuinely hope it goes to someone who will maintain it properly as opposed to some tyre kicker who kills it within a few months

Most definitely the best SE I've seen with all the right modifications and with low mileage and an almost unbelievable number plate! As Boss says never seen an 09 mk1 so it's the rarest of the rare. GLWTS! Still think Richard needs another mk1 floating about, especially as it's an SE.

The Iceing on the cake for me would be if it was number 999 or 001
