Good PCP deal?

Featured Replies

So I am trying to find the best deal on the Skoda Octavia Elegance 1.4 dsg with the following options -

Front parking sensors,

Sunset privacy glass,

Simply clever pack for variable boot floor - Octavia,

Metallic paint,

Crew protection assist and rear side airbags,

Keyless entry and keyless start,

Sports suspension

Cash price for this car is £22k

However on a PCP it is £23200

Terms are on £1500 deposit, 35months at £339 and 8000 per year.

Do you think this is a good deal?

I certainly wouldn't pay that...it's far too much. With only a little shopping around you cold be in much better cars for £339 a month even with a low deposit.  I know that the world has moved on a little but I pay over £50 a month less than that after a smaller deposit and based on more miles. You could do much much better.

I'd agree, that's loads. Also, 8000 miles a year would limiting for anyone in my opinion. Id question the need for a car!

This was a cheaper quote than the delears off car wow and my local dealer.

Any ideas where I can get a better deal from?

Who are the deals with?

48 month must be a pre registered car deal as pcp on new car is only 36 months

42 months is generally the maximum but longer can be negotiated.

+1 I am on a 42 month term.  Decided to do this instead of a 36 on the basis after 36 month the car should be worth roughly whats owed or a bit more and serves to further reduce the monthly cost.

I got mine from a Skoda main dealer with the intention of keeping the total cost of motoring over 3 years of ownership as low as possible.  What was the GMFV with that deal you were offered?

On this type of deal deal you are only paying for the difference between the new price and its value at the end of the agreement which is why some premium brands which depreciate less can actually be cheaper.  To get a lower PCP price dealers often just offset a larger percentage of the car by having a higher GMFV.  You could try asking for a higher GMFV to see how that affects things.

I really don't care how high they set the final value it is as I've no intention of keeping it beyond the agreement.  I actually don't think that it will be worth the amount they claim.  If you're in the same position, then doing the same could work well.  If however, you intend to purchase the car, you'd obliviously need to work out the total costs to purchase it including the PCP costs, deposit and final value.

I think with a bit of trying, even at a main dealer, that you'd be able to do much better.  Good luck and happy shopping

OP, this thread posts 16 onwards are talking betterprices than Carwow http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/345822-carwow-thought-and-opinions/

Your seems a hefty quote to me, mine's only on £20,305 but, at £267p.m. grand down and 42 months on 10K miles p.a. I kinda figure your getting shafted somewhere along the line, has the 0% PCP deal gone now ?

OP states in post 1 its an Elegance

OP states in post 1 its an Elegance

I know was in answer to the post above which is towards a post a couple above that

Also not particularly relevant to getting the best deal, but don't bother with the sports suspension! It's a torsion beam rear axle anyway

The GMFV is £9900

The GMFV is £9900

That is part of the difference then. I was offered £11600. For me, that is not problem as I'm not going to buy it. . That means a saving of £1700 over the plan or about £50 a month. When you consider that I got 0% too and so paid a small deposit, it explains why I'm paying about £60 a month less than your offer.

I think they're pricing themselves out of the market. In my opinion, £340 a month is way too much but hey, democracy is great. If you've no intention to buy, try increasing that GMFV. You may not be lucky though as they initially based the depreciation rate on the mark 2 but SUK now know that these are much worse so it's my guess that large GMFV will no longer be offered as lots of early cars will be in negative equity come the end of the agreement.

So how much should I be realistically paying for the elegance model with my additional options (1st post)?

The quotes I have been provided are including 0%.

Chris, you do realise that every optional extra you've added doesn't add 1p to the Guaranteed Future Value !  If you need to get your payments down, you could reconsider some of these as well as bargaining/shopping around harder.

I do indeed.

I have had multiple quotes and DTD seems to be the best so far which is the one I have quoted.

My local dealer was on par with WOWCAR deals. I have checked on multiple sites and brokers and DTD seem to be the best deal to date...

Only a thought and of course if you have time but, you may want to hold on to your ordeer till the end of the month as its the end of Quarter, dealerships have quarterly targets and if they meet them they get extra discounts hence, you may find a dealership that want just one more sale to meet or break a target with financial benefits to them.  In this case, the discount could be greater than you're currently being offered that said, Q4 is usual the best for this but, it maybe worth a try.
