Unable to connect to carplay

When I first got me 2017 Superb I connected me iPhone 13 via usb to get CarPlay then I bought this dongle and have been using it ok for a month, I got into the car the other day and CarPlay wouldn’t work I tried unplugging the dongle restarting the car deleting phone and all profiles and removing connections from the phone and car,

I’ve sent the dongle back but pay car won’t connect to the phone via car play , the usb cable (that has worked before) charges the phone

Can anyone suggest what I can check or try next? I’ve done a scan with vcds but there arnt any new faults ( nothing associated with the infotainment system)
