Question regarding bluetooth

Featured Replies

Hi

As mentioned in past post, I am due to have the bluetooth module replaced next Friday to hopefully cure my randon disconnects from the Premium bluetooth..

Can anyone answer a question,

I know that premium bluetooth uses the rSap profile and uses the cars external aerial, but is there an internal aerial in the module that the phone actually connects to? i.e the bluetooth aerial?

Stuart

Yes.  That's why it's in a plastic box.  The older modules were in an aluminium box and had a little printed circuit bluetooth antenna about 1.5 inches long poking out.

Thank you....

I have two connections to mine, the main multi-plug and the one to the aerial, I was just trying to confirm that the phone did not connect to the external aerial.. if it did this, I suppose could throw a spanner in the works..

Lets hope the new module the dealers fit cures this issue. :)

I have spoken to a "retro-fit" specialist I know who said it does sound like a faulty module. ...

The new modules (3C8 035 730 D and 3C8 035 730 E) actually have two internal antennas, to communicate between the module and devices inside the car. One for the bluetooth, and another one for Wifi. The roof antenna is only used to communicate between the module's GSM chip, and the cellular network of your provider.

Mine is the 3C8 035 730D, I remember this from taking the cover off just to make sure all connections were tight... which they were :)

Seems to just randomly loose the rSap connection, sometimes it will connect straight away to rSap after a few seconds, then other times (more in the last week or so) it has to think about it for ages then connects to basic bluetooth, and now it has now started to come up with "failed to connect" unless I go into either the phone menu on the handset or into MAXI-DOT and select connect..

It worked perfect for the first 5 months, then started... I know it is not the phone, worked perfect with my Galaxy S3, before starting, did the same with a Note 3 I tried, then does the same with my brand new Note 4... It can work OK for a week then drop twice in 15 mins...Lol

Really hope it is a "duff" module..

Same here. I have the D module and Samsung Note 3 with S3 previously and 2 or 3 times a day it randomly loses connection. So far though it reconnects in about 20 seconds

Mine was OK for the first few months, and even now, it can be OK for a week then drop :( but at first it did always reconnect, and connect as premium rSap, now it takes a long time to reconnect, then may connect as rSap, basic bluetooth or fail...

Not sure if they will replace this with the same "D" version or if they will use the "E"

I had the same problems with rsap from android-rsap.com. But this rsap has an extra option to keep the phone awake during a Bluetooth connection. This costs a little extra battery time, but enabling this option has completely cured all my connection losses. Moreover, the guy behind android-rsap actually supports his software and responds to forum questions. Samsung can learn something from this level of support.

I`ll have a look at that app. I always thought though that it was for phones that don`t have rsap

That's what it is meant for, but it also has advantages for other phones  :D

Just checked it out and it seems the phone needs to be rooted. I don't fancy doing that because it's still covered by warranty and also rooting seems too complicated
