Tbh, I like the idea but could not drop 120lbft off torque

Now if it had a turbo in there then it would be interesting

I'm biased , I've always had a second weekend fun car (Well since i gave up the bikes) , the 370 is pretty good , nice to drive , fairly quick, reasonable on fuel , insurance is cheap , road tax is horrendous as are tyres but its a nice weekend car with lots of toys

£15k would buy a lot of Evo as well , not a lot will touch an Evo on the road

Saw a nismo yesterday

Looked very nice

Yeah the Nismo version is nice but out of budget by quite a bit I would expect

I like the 370Z, The engine doesn't sound terribly good when revved, but you don't have to rev it to make it go and it does drive the fun end of the car :)

how about something American?

C5 Corvetter :)

F150 Lightning pickup :) :) Really fast and super fun

Vauxhall VXR8?

Nissan R33 GTR?

Supra Twin Turbo?

Always liked skylines......

Finding an unmolested one might be tricky but worthwhile

Agree on 370z, never owned rwd, only fwd, or 4 wheel in the imprezza

M135 and fiesta both driven. Loved both.

Want to drive a fiesta with more miles to get a better perspective

One us a real pocket go kart, the other a stupidly big engine in a small car that feels luxurious

Not rushing the decision just an update

heart says 135, head fiesta st. Bear £500 road tax on the Cayman and others does count against them

Does the 135 come with a warranty? On another forum I browse regularly they usually recommend buying a warranty with the more complex BMW engines like the one in the M135i. Apparently BMW's after-market warranty is one of the best around.

They usually say a car with under 60k miles is much cheaper to apply a warranty to.

Looking at main dealer so one year warranty for sirte but will look to get more.

My barber drives an m3 and he says the same so will factor that in.

Looking at car up to 25,000 miles and with my predicted mileage it will a good few years before it his 60k

Similar with the Cayman re a warranty

Controversial I know but we don't have to keep the vrs and they do the golf r in an estate which is similar size to the vrs

Going to drive a hatch to see if that's a better option for us. No estate to test drive as yet

Okay here is an update.

Having tried a fiesta st, bmw m135i, golf r, polo GT86, I decided to try the BRZ. Why, well the reviews all describe the drive as sublime, direct and many quite fun at legal speeds. I was worried about the torque light delivery.

Well 1250 kg and 197 bhp is plenty to have fun even with a tight engine. It is true there is not the swell of torque our stage 1 Vrs petrol has. It is brisk enough to feel like you are making progress and the car is certainly quick witted, the seeing is all I hoped.

End result bought a dealer demo with 347 miles on the clock, for the remaining running I period it will be driven as per the guidebook. Then an early 1000 mile oil change.

Not a requirement anymore but I think the car will be a keeper.

Do yes I bought one of the first cars I dismissed. Thanks for all those that helped me. I think I have more chance of having fun and keeping my licence with this than either the m135i or golf r.

If interested I will update with my progress and make comparisons with the estate we will be keeping

nice choice. I looked very closely at one of these but ended up going down the sensible economical route lol.

Enjoy

Not bad, is that from the trip or calculated? Usually a slight difference between the two.

Calculated

running in so 4000rpm limit, but it did include heavy traffic on m25, also running in a gear lower for a while on some roads so engine is not at constant speed.

Amazed me with such a tight engine and it's quite short geared 70 is 3000 rpm in 6th iirc

Oil change at 1000 will be £150 subaru dealers are more expensive than skoda

Seriously £150 for an oil and filter change at 1,000 miles,

they are pulling your trousers down.

Great choice :) A colleague who's owned Scoobys, proper 5 cyclinder Quattro's and currently has a Porsche 968, has recently bought the Toyobaru and agrees that the handling is what sets it apart. Quite quick, but a dream to steer he says :) It sounds quite nice too as he has an aftermarket exhaust on it (don't know what make).
