hi I have a Skoda Fabia VRS 1.9 2005 and the battery is playing up. Can any body suggest a good battery please?

Before you spend any money, check that the battery light comes on when you turn on the ignition, and goes out again once the engine is running. 

Yes it is doing that. The thing is lately it has been struggling to start after say 20seconds. Then today it struggled again to start and cut out twice. I got home and cleaned of a load of gunk of the connectors and touch wood it seems to have stopped.

When I need to replace my battery, I will probably replace it with a Bosch one, either the S4 or S5. I am very surprised that my 11 year old battery is still going strong after all these years. If you do buy one, make sure you get the right size. Early Fabias have 096 type, later ones have 027.

Just bought an Exide EA770 for my 2006 VRS as it wasn't starting after leaving it a few days in the cold. The new one is size 096 but the original was 027, just had to leave the jacket off and it fits like a treat.
