200+Bhp from a 1.6tdi ?

Featured Replies

So the biggie question might be,

How much cash money did it cost to take the standard factory engine 1.6TD CR from its original output to the one on the graph?

Not as much as you may think, now the hard work is done, tuners such as ADE Tuning will be able to offer the turbo upgrade as a package in a similar way to other companies like APR do for the 1.8tsi etc.

You can also source parts yourself to have them fit and mapped which would be cheaper again :)

Not much help. :peek:

The other question being how long will it last.

you could probably get about 600hp from it as long as you happy with a life expectancy in minutes.

DarrellGB,

i think i knew all that, and how to DIY,  but you were paying others to do it.

i just wondered since there is a build thread and magazine articles if there was a break down on the cost of the engine compartment work,

not the brakes, suspension etc.

Or is it mates rates, freebies etc., Developement work for the companies.

Sorry i have not read all the build threads just bits and pieces in this section.

Thats impressive for a 1.6 TDi, congrats on doing something different to the norm.

Out of interest what rpm does the turbo start to spool up at?

I had a quick scan through the linked thread 'Fastest 1.6tdi in the UK'.

So do we have timings and speeds someplace , 0-60, 0-80, 0-100,  30-70, maximum speed  etc. ?

Why not bring her along to the 16th May Santa Pod day? :D  I know its being put a fabia 1 / 2 day, but anyone can show up really.

No better place than the Pod to get the essential performance stats.

Ive not totted everything up but from memory you could do all the engine mods inc exhaust for 2K, this project has been a mix of development, mates rates and full whack rates, some trial and error too. Anyone doing the same can avoid the error ;)

But being an Englishman i don't like talking money :)

I've been chatting with Anthony at ADE Tuning about getting some figures, not wanting to knacker the clutch so 0-60 will wait until we see how its holding up.

Cant make the 16th May unfortunately, work commitments either side mean I've blocked it off for family time :)

Its a daily driver and family car so its tuned with that in mind, nothing is being pushed too hard :)

So still just potentially the Fastest 1.6tdi in the UK, 'until it is ready to rock & roll.'

Just wave the Dyno Print out at them and job done at the traffic light grand prix.

If you look at the right of the graph it gives a breakdown of how the power comes in but theres very little lag :)

I can change the wording to 'Most Powerful' if it makes you feel better, but I'm confident its still the fastest be that a straight line or on a track.

Ive set out to build something different and show the potential of the 1.6tdi, the 'fastest' tag is for fun, I'm not calling Guinness for a record attempt  :notme:

Let's see how she handles Castle Combe as I bet that's the first proper test?  Only 5 weeks away I think

I already know the handling is fun, its how she pulls out the corners i can't wait to see :)

Saying under your avatar that it's an ADE Tuning developed Yeti Greenline seems a little unfair.

A lot of the work seemed to have been done before you weren't happy with Shark and got ADE to do the downpipe and map.

They have not developed the car, they just finished off the last few things you wanted.

I understand giving ADE the kudos as you are happy with the car and they are hoping to get work from it.

Maybe they are even sponsoring it, who knows.

But they didn't develop the car. Or fit the turbo, intercooler, suspension etc...

It's a bit like me taking the Citigo to Shark when it's 90% done and then saying it's a Shark engineered car.

I'm not sure this is the answer to people wanting a sportier diesel Fabia because by the time you price a turbo, front mount intercooler, modified downpipe and other supporting bits and bobs... including sorting the handling and brakes to cope. Plus labour and custom mapping I'd expect you'd be looking around the £4,000 mark plus.

It's a very niche market.

And the Fabia/Rapid that don't come with decent power diesels have competitors that do.

Seat already do a 2.0 diesel Ibiza that will map to good figures for under £400.

Ive listed everyone involved in my build thread, but the bolted on bits are no good without a map to make it all happen, so I don't see anything wrong in giving credit to ADE Tuning, the company who made it all come together.  I'm not wanting to get into the reasons for moving from Shark but they were substantial enough for me to make the move and cost me money putting right a mistake they weren't interested in taking responsibility for.

I can recommend what they have done with a clear conscience and integrity, thats important to me.

Maybe 'tuned' would be a better word than developed because as you say, its my money thats been spent with 5 different companies so ill take the 'development' credit ;)

Its coming in at 3K but I've had some of work done by Rushworths Autos (wife uncle) and sourced parts and very good prices (£150 for the turbo, £300 for brake set up, cheaper suspension parts from Germany etc) so 4K would be easy to spend if you just handed it in and did nothing yourself.

Been chatting with a guy called Andreas Marker, he's from Denmark and has a 1.6tdi running at 190bhp, he's been getting info for his tuner (sent him dyno results and ADE Tunings info), maybe we'll have another 200+bhp 1,6tdi in Europe soon :)

Arrr saw this on instagram. Didnt realise it was yours. I thought it was on a standard turbo. I even commented on the instagram picture about it. Ade posted thinking it could be the most powerful yeti in europe

1.6 TDi Yeti Maybe.

I'm sure a few members on here may disagree with that statement! :giggle:

I disagreed with that statement [emoji6]
