Car Vac

Featured Replies

Anyone recommend a vac for the car. We've got a Dyson upright which I just seem to be fighting the whole time.

Are the battery powered one's any good.

I use a smaller dyson, the DC28C is the closest I can find.

Just obviously without the big handle to do the carpets with :D

Seems to work quite well for me, plenty of length on the pipe, nice and stable being on the floor, filter just needs a clean out and wash under the tap time to time.

Can get a morrisions basic cylinder vac for 20quid, it's bagless too. Plus all the Dyson tools fit the nozzle. Decent power on it plus small and light.

Battery power ones ok,but battery doesn't really last long enough I've found.

Got a Henry brilliant litle thing.

Get yourself a George !

The battery powered Dysons are fine if there's only you in the car so you only need to hoover your corner, other than that the battery is a bit lacking. It's a shame they didn't make them with changeable batteries really. They're a good little hoover and very handy for some jobs but this isn't one of them unfortunately.

What exactly do you mean by 'fighting'?

Im afraid there is nothing I have seen or used with a battery that is any good

I use a VAX vacuum..its very powerful and compact..but it plugs in

I've got a wet/dry vac from screwfix for the car... Think it's gone up from £29 to £34 but still pretty good

Only issues is could do with a soft brush type attachment and thin tube for down by seats (but I have these from an old Hoover). Also it blows a lot of dust out the back (it can be used to blow also), so need to be careful where you point the blower outlet if you've just watched the car

refurb Henry's near me for £40. Might invest in one. Having said that, my local wash charges £2 for a Hoover, and given its the job I hate I think I'll carry on paying!

We've just got a G Tech Ram Air for the house and the multi for the cars. Their "flexible crevice tool", as well as having a funny name, is stupidly simple in design yet extremely useful for those hard to get to places.

Batteries on both last plenty long enough and I've not had issues with lack of suction. Certainly a lot easier than using our Dyson was.

My mum bought the pair of those and I'm very impressed, we have a dyson upright , a Meile cat and dog and a Henry in the garage , the next one that dues will be replace with the G Tech they are great machines

I have a JCB wet/dry vac, looks like a Henry but it's  Yellow

I've got a Henry that I use in the workshop and for the car. Seems to work really well.

If your sticking with your household dyson buy the extension hose for it makes it a lot easier to work around the car. Buy them from ebay there cheaper than the kits from dyson

For battery powered I use one of these Black & Decker units - surprisingly powerful and get a good hour+ from it per charge:

Also available as a 12v corded version: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Decker-PAD1200-Flexi-Vacuum/dp/B002JCSCUW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1427057885&sr=8-2&keywords=Black+and+decker+DustBuster

For mains powered, I bought a cheap factory refurb Karcher wet & dry vac from the Karcher UK outlet store web site. https://www.karcheroutlet.co.uk/products/product.asp?id=5189

That's the 2nd one I linked to in my previous post (perfectly decent Hoover - though I prefer cordless).

Recommend you buy from Amazon - it's a lot less hassle if the item breaks down during the warranty period.
