Climate Control behaviour

Featured Replies

Only had the car a few months and really loving it, great car let down by a few little niggles and rattles.

When using the climate on auto to heat the cabin the warm air only seems to come out though my drivers side vent, possibly the passengers not 100% sure.

However if I switch to manual warm air suddenly comes out of the centre vents! Change back to auto and back to just the drivers side vent.

Is this normal or should I book it in for a dealer visit? The Car is a very early vRS used by Skoda Management. Its a 13 plate so still in warranty period.

Thanks
Jon

Is that a dual zone system?

It is dual zone however I have it set to single zone.

I would say its probably normal.

On manual, the climate unit will just blow air out of all the selected vents at the speed & temperature you choose.

On auto, the climate system tries to balance the temperature in different zones of the cabin.

So if it thinks the centre of the car is already warm enough it will reduce the flow through the centre vents or though the floor vents etc.

Check it again when there is a big difference between the current temperature & temperature set on the climate unit.

Also, what profile do you have selected for the climate unit (light, normal, strong) ?

I could imagine that on the "light" profile the flow of air into the cabin doesn't come from the centre vents to prevent the occupants from feeling the changes in air temperature blowing on them.

If you set it to normal or strong perhaps it will blow air through the centre vents in your conditions.
