coilovers

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have recently bought a 97 Felicia. I cant find coilovers anywhere for it. Was told from someone that got coilovers that apparently you can use rear vw polo and front fiesta.

Anyone else tried this and know it its okay?

Cheers

Phil

Easy is not necessarily equal with good.

They are also the best option

I will be buying some mk2 golf rears and focus mk1 front soon to fit to my 2001 Felicia. Hope all goes well :)

Yes ford coilover fit on the front, mk4 fiesta mk1 focus etc, but they are a very tight press fit into the felicia uprights, ideally you need to get them machined to the right size before trying to fit them,

On the back you can use vw fitment stuff, mk2/3 golf or mk4 polo.

I used mk3 golf coilovers on mine on the back, and it not perfect, when it's jacked up the springs drop out of the spring retainers so they could probably do with having a longer helper spring fitted instead

to fit the ford front ones you need to do a bit of jiggery pokery with the top mounts and top spring seats or try and use the ford top mounts.

All these are for the use of lowering, I'm looking to stiffen a little but give a good "smooth-ish" ride whilst lifting slightly, I have some ideas just not had time and money to put in to practice yet ;-)

I just sold a hp sporting set that would off worked

If you contact GAZ suspension they do a kit for the felicia, they quoted me around £500 +vat which I didn't think was too bad

Sorry about bumping an old topic but I was wondering, would a kit for audi 80 work? From the pics of it it resembles the stock ones.

@Automata - Yes, and? The damper and strut mounts may be the same, but that is utterly no guarantee that the spring free lengths, damper rates and spring rates are even similar.

Ive got a set of Bilstein B4s fitted to my Felicia, they were on sale from Demon Tweeks, and an £80 set of Pro-Sport 1" lowering springs for the Favorit that work fine, and have lasted 4 years so far...

£230 for the lot, but I would suggest using a four post lift (ie: "professional fitting") for the Bilsteins: so that the car body can be lowered onto them, because they were a pain to fit without!!!.

Trust me; you wont need coilovers on a Felicia, unless you're fitting a non standard engine (adjustable coilovers to compensate for the extra weight at the front.) or race tuning the 1.6; ive been on five different tracks in mine with an engitec 278 cam and lowered with skinny 165 tyres, and the only time i broke the front end traction was in the wet!.

Oh, I have no plans for an engine replacement, the 1.9l diesel run great. Might go lowered spring route if I'll need to replace suspension this winter/fall. Ride is already quite stiff with no load in bed.
