New Amundsen Voice control: Help!

Featured Replies

I have bought a new 2015 my Yeti L&K Outdoor 2.0 CRD DPF DSG. Lovely car, but slight quibble with the (otherwise excellent) standard fitted new version Amundsen unit. Main dealer have contacted Skoda UK, who say that the voice control does not work with this model, even though the buttons are there on the unit and steering wheel, and full instructions are in the handbook. Nobody at the dealership could explain why it did not work, hence the approach to Skoda UK. No microphone icon is present on the display, which would indicate it is inoperative. Hands free works fine on the phone, but, again, no facility to press the steering wheel button and speak commands, ie, "call xyz". Any ideas, anyone, or are Skoda UK right? Not exactly life threatening, I know, just irritating.

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

I believe that the phone voice control is an option. However is does work for the sat nav.

I have the AmundSen RNS315 equavalent in my Tiguan and had the same buttons but no function. I enabled this to work with VCDS. Haven't really used it on satnav or phone

I had to use VCDS to change the mute button on the left side of the steering wheel from mute to push-to-talk which allowed voice commands on my Octavia.

Assuming your Yeti is similar it could be as simple as that. If I have time, I'll try and find out exactly which bit I changed.

That is exactly what I did in the Tig, only seems to work on phone and not satnav.

Go to module 16 - Steering Wheel
Byte 1 Bit 3 tick - "Multi-Function-Steering-Wheel (MSFW) with Push-to-Talk (PTT) Button installed"
Do-It

Go to module 37 - Navigation
Byte 10 untick bit 7 "Speech Dialog System (SDS) disabled/blocked)
Do-It

Correct - the RNS 510 can process voice commands while all other headunits can't and rely on the bluetooth module to process them.

Β

This is why most retrofit looms will have a couple of connectors mid loom to either connect the mic to the headunit or bluetooth module.

The new Amundsen and Bolero head units (MIB2) have integrated Bluetooth with no external module. If anyone knows how to enable voice control on these if it was not specified at build I would be interested as well :) SUK say it is not possible / cost effective, but hey that does not mean it is true!

I have just found out that my voice control does work with phone and satnav with the Amundsen II.

However you need to have the feature "visible" on the main 6" screen.

So press the phone button on the main screen and then press the button on the steering wheel and give the command "call Fred" or whoever and it will give all contacts with the word Fred in it... Fred, Alfred etc. you the say one, two or three... Or touch the relevant one on screen.

For navigation, have it visible on the main screen and press the "voice button" ( bottom left) and you will seethe voices to say... Possibly " navigate to home".
