New octavia VRS owner

Featured Replies

Well after lots of trouble from a dealer getting the car iv finaly got it..

And so far im loving the change from a scooby to the vRS.. Its only got 450 Miles on it so taking it easy but it seams to have more pull from lower down so is easyer to drive in town.

Just got a few niggles as usual but the car seems to be great on the most part.

No 1 problem is the noise from the rear breaks but guess this is an easy fix fron the dealer. Iv seen a few reports on here.

No 2. Is that the trip meter seems only to work out the MPG for the current journey not the total for the tank or untill you tell it to reset. not a major one but would love to know what i get out of a tank with out haveing to work it out in excell.

No 3 Not alot you can do with this. But its lower than the scooby and the front splitter seams to rub on the ground when getting out of my drive.

Anyway hope to see you all around soon.

Rob

Welcome Rob.

I've had my vRS for a few months now. Traded my VX220 Turbo in and like you, am loving the vRS.

Re: no 2 - I presume you know that you can switch between accumulative and present journey using the switch on the base of the stalk?

Re: no 3 - seems lower than a VX at the front too.

Enjoy the car - especially once she's run in!

Chris..

thanks for the reply.. Im im sorry to say i did not.. I know there is a Reset switch but another.. ??? Umm with out seaming stupid  Where?

Weird the lower but i thought the scooby was just about low as you could go..

Oh yea forgot number 4.. the view out of the rear window.. Not easy to park but im getting better.. Only 20 Meters now between me and the car behind. :D Whish i got the parking sensors fitted if i knew it was that bad...

My Octavia had a perfect front bumper when I collected it. B the time it was in the driveway it was scraped :( My previous car (MK4 Astra SRi) had no trouble.

The trip meter is explained in the manual ;)

Pah RTFM.. i think not.. I work in computers how hard can it be...

Chears will have a look tonight.. Now where did i hide the book.

Yea the underside of the bumper looks a right mess but at least its noticable from the front..

Rob.

It is the reset button that toggles between accumulative and current. To reset you push and hold reset button, to toggle just push restet button once. Hope this helps.

Accumulative = Trip 2 and current = Trip 1.

I agree on this - its an absolute pain in the a$$ to reverse park - even after owning my car for 7 months I still cannot get the hang of it

I find mine much easier to park after only a few weeks than my previous car a Toyota Avensis which I had for over 2 years. :)

It's easy to reverse park - you just stop when your bumper bumps something :D

HTH

Estate models are a doddle to park ;)

Dave - I would have thought your spoiler was sufficiently large to provide a good marker when reversing ;)

1) Its a feature, get used to it :D Although I appear to have one of the few that doesn't do this.

2) There are 2 functions to the trip computer, mode 1 and mode 2, you need mode 2 for overall mpg as opposed to current journey (mode 1 )

3)Its a feature, get used to it :D Seriously though, yes the front lip is very low, i've lost count of the number of times ive scapped it on kerbs.

4)Its a fea....... ah you know the rest :D . Again you get used to it. I find it easier to park than my previous vehicle (Primera GT saloon) as I can can gauge where the back end is from the spoiler. On the Primera the spoiler wasnt quite as prominent when looking in the rear view miror.

you stop reversing when the beeping gets faster lol

you stop reversing when the beeping gets faster lol

dam straight! lol

Funny how you all have problems with none lowered VRS's....

Joel

I scrapped my front bumper a couple of times and that was on a raised curb when parking......car is now lowered and I only catch the lower stut brace...sometimes when parking on the pavement outside our home.

Rear parking sensors are the way to go...and "Yes" the estate is way easier to park.

I knocked the underside of my bumper on a protruding rock whilst parking my car the other night, now the cover on the inside of the arch is split and the bumper end sticks out about a centimetre from the bodywork, the clip was held in by aforementioned arch cover, right p*ssed off with myself for that one, one of those little things that gets right on my teets!!!!
