So that's enough remorse and reflection, rehabilitation celebrity style.

If only the rest of the workforce could make as swift a return to gainful employment.

As Stig is BBC property and  no longer on the menu can I suggest a replacement - Gits

BBC Worldwide is happy to use Jezza anyhow , Top Gear is still constantly on Dave (Owned by BBC WW)

But lets not look too closely at how BBC WW gets a lot of its income as after all its from selling BBC shows elsewhere , those shows that were paid for by the licence payer.

Its just smoke and mirrors, making it appear that Jezza is no longer being paid by the licence payer when in fact he is really, just indirectly

I doubt you or I would find employment quite so easily if we'd just been fired for a physical assault against a junior member of staff

I think it is reasonable to fulfil the future contracts that will affect their many fans. It's his new contract that hasn't been renewed and these dates where already confirmed in the diary.

Just read Clonkson's latest review in the Sunday Times and it seemed a pale imitation of his former writing. Seems to have lost some of his spirit and backbone. Understandable I suppose.

That whole article refers him being 'sacked'

Serious reporting fail, especially for a supposed quality rag like the Telegraph

:(

There is a fair bit of speculation that has recently appeared that JC is off to USA Top Gear as it is a workaround for the BBC UK problem. Seems to have legs this one too.

Be a very interesting show if it happens. It would be worth watching to see how many millions of Americans wold be baying for his blood within 2 episodes!!

My favourite part of this article:

He said: "It was a private note of thanks to 113 people who have worked on the show over the years, but clearly one of those 113 is a bit of a tit, because they shared it with a website.

"I don't get this modern obsession with sharing, linking, forwarding, retweeting; whatever happened to a private moment?"

Loved it esp the bolded section!

I am sure all involved must be immensely proud of the way they dealt with the whole affair...

I would LOVE to see the old bitter git on the USA Top Gear!

I really do not like Clarkson but he sure as hell knows how to entertain petrol heads :)

Who's Clarkson?

I've forgotten him already :)

This was released on the 1st of April - is it fact?

Jezza is hosting Have I got News for you on the BBC in two weeks time, so he's allowed to appear on the BBC but not on Top Gear, apart from the repeats on BBC3.

They're maybe fitting him out with a strait jacket instead of his usual tweed

that's probably as a freelancer on an ad hoc contract.

And probably with no where near the money he would have made per programme with TG.

Very true, but I bet HIGNFY gets massive viewing figures that night. JC will be in for a bumpy night if the BBC let Merton and Hislop lose on him.

Hopefully even more punitive than the treatment of Angus Deayton

Looks like Clonkson has wimped out of HIGNFY :( Shame as I love a good public thrashing :( :(

Although they think he may well host the show later in the year. Can't think he will get off much more lightly by the panel though, at least I hope not.

It is brilliant how democracy works in this country. Over one million people SIGNED a petition to keep the Top Gear running. Yet the communist BBC unilaterally decided to stick two fingers to democracy and do whatever they fekking felt would appease hemp ingesting morons, albeit very vocal ones... So, me paying my taxes and TV license fees signing under the petition means feckk all... Some overpaid executive made a decision for me..

I hope that jobsworth Tymon feels good about himself and how righteous he is ...

Just to be clear, I really HATE  Clarckson but he and the team produced a great piece of motoring entertainment and I was very happy for BBC to spend my license money on that!

He hit somebody for no apparent reason in the workplace

You clearly condone such blatany thuggery with no thought for the victim

Sod democracy, he got what he deserved, get over it

but he hit an innocent person because he is an ar$e. That's illegal. He can't be continued to be paid millions just for your entertainment as the excuse to get away with that sort of behaviour. If a million people said they thought Jimmy Saville was a top bloke who raised money for charity, so should be Canonised and if he was still alive, given his job back, would that justify it?

Clarkson is lucky he didn't end up with a criminal record. He is a bully and now, admitted to being a thug.

Edit: SNAP ^^^^ Brimma. posts passed in the ether I think

Ah, another commie aficionado - nothing wrong with that, all political options are welcomed after all...

Bringing "saville" here is simple VERY LOW. A despicable criminal I'd gladly take a sentence for killing him over many years while  in excruciating pain .. how does it reference to Clarkson case??!?!?!?!

What you are missing here is a special relationship between a star and the support crew, where their job is to make the life of the star a plain sailing. For the failure of doing so the jobsworth should be summarily dismissed!!!

I don't get this, sacked, cancelled contract, services no longer required. Whichever way you look at it the BBC don't want him anymore because of the misconduct, he hit someone, can't do that, rightly so.

So why is the BBC letting him host one of their other shows? I just don't get it!!

I'm sure someone will have a logical explanation, but I still won't get it.

What a load of complete and utter b*ll*cks

Clarkson is a co-presenter of a gradually waining car show.......sorry, was the presenter of a gradually waining car show, who had obviously had a few, lost his rag and lashed out

Are you seriously suggesting that a person should be "summarily dismissed" because of a mix up over food?

The fact Clarkson was p*ssed at the time doesn't suggest to me that he went straight from a hard day's shooting to wanting something to eat, if he had done the restaurant may have still been serving

Brian, I do like you in person, I do however have you blocked here on the briskie...

Gradually waining... a bold statement... find me a political movement with 1,000,000 supporters willing to sing their names...

Jobsworth's job was to look after every whim of a star of the show. Moron decided to take a high ground. I hope he's happy with his decision.

All that I am saying is situations like that can be resolved. Jobsworth made his decision... I have to suf fer for it... I simply do not like it....

BBC commies decided to take a high ground... they were legally entitled to do so, Clarkson (who I personally really hate!!) committed an offence under the law and if chosen so it could have been made actionable...

Was it all really needed??? NO!!!
