Jezza - the wilderness years

What you are missing here is a special relationship between a star and the support crew, where their job is to make the life of the star a plain sailing. For the failure of doing so the jobsworth should be summarily dismissed!!!

What you are missing is I have worked in the industry to talk about for the last 30  years. Special relation, my ar$e :D :D : D He is a thug and as for Commie :D Where's Hitler when you need him :D

Jobsworth's job was to look after every whim of a star of the show. Moron decided to take a high ground. I hope he's happy with his decision.

All that I am saying is situations like that can be resolved. Jobsworth made his decision... I have to suf fer for it... I simply do not like it....

BBC commies decided to take a high ground... they were legally entitled to do so, Clarkson (who I personally really hate!!) committed an offence under the law and if chosen so it could have been made actionable...

Was it all really needed??? NO!!!

I'm sorry but you have no idea of the relationships of a TV crew on a shoot. Jobsworth?? I really don't know where to start with the inaccuracies of that ridiculous accusation. Perhaps there is a site out there that can show you how the job works. How production come together with the technical and operational staff and hopefully a creative product results. That does NOT happen by accident. Without the Jobsworth, the shoot would have fallen apart. Actually bar a trainee or a junior runner, almost anyone on the crew who doesn't pull their weight jeopardises the shoot.

I don't get this, sacked, cancelled contract, services no longer required. Whichever way you look at it the BBC don't want him anymore because of the misconduct, he hit someone, can't do that, rightly so.

So why is the BBC letting him host one of their other shows? I just don't get it!!

I'm sure someone will have a logical explanation, but I still won't get it.

his contract with the TG show wasn't renewed, whereas I am guessing the HIGNFY will employ him directly, which means he is being employed by a different company that is making a show that is put on BBC. The BBC sets out what it wants from a show and the makers will have produced a spec that says what they want to do and who they want to present it etc, but the Beeb will rarely jump in and say no to their presenter choices once they initial contracts are accepted.

So when a show like the Snooker comes around for contact renewal, the Beeb will put the production out to tender and someone like IMG will pick it up. The Beeb have a condition that the show is done by BBC Scotland so many production people will have to be from their and the production company will also be encouraged to use Hazel Irvine (it might even be a stipulation). It is quiet complicatred how they all eventually get to sing off the same hymn sheet, but it eventually coalesces and we get to watch the snooker.

^^^^ So it doesn't really matter what he's done, he could be back hosted by the beeb.

Told you I don't get it.

Past episodes of Top Gear are constantly on the Beeb , he has never really left

How come a shows producer is a "jobsworth"? And why should someone pander to the whims of an A list celeb, let alone a fat gobby Z lister? If clonkson wanted his own private butler he should have paid for it himself, and not out of my license fee thank you!

I agree with you, it is a team effort, the support team and the creative team. In this case, with "the jobsworth" we have absolutely nothing, the whole thing was simply scrapped. Look at the big picture here. I understand and agree that what Clonkson did was inexcusable and really horrible and there is no justification for it. What the "jobsworth" didn't do was also a massive failure and gathering that it was his job to look after the Old Oaf then he did not do his job and should have been sacked for that, simples.

Then there is the way the whole affair was dealt with... there are many ways this could have been sorted without cancelling the whole show and making a very public circus out of it which culminated in complete disregard to people who pay for BBC and that executive's job after all.

As I wrote, they must be immensely proud of themselves and how highly principled they all are, sod everything else.

My understanding was that he was paid to cater for his whims. He did not do that and in the process, greatly helped by Clonkson, managed to cancel one of the most popular motoring entertainment shows BBC ever made, paid by the license fee payers.

Do we not think that perhaps JC wanted to cause the public circus ? I do , it was he that reported the incident, the producer in question did not , the whole thing could have been swept under the carpet if they wanted.

Thing like this have happened many times in the past and have gone unreported at least publicly

You know what, I have not thougt about it in this way... but what would be the benefit of doing so from the JC's point of view?

Payback , he wanted to embarrass the BBC, he has made no bones about being annoyed by the BBC "Elf and safety" numerous times , he wasn't happy the way TG was going and no longer had a say. I believe he had no intention of renewing his contract, especially as the papers would have made a big deal of his salary etc and put the BBC in a difficult situation. Better to leave and potentially come back as the saviour of TG (again) but on his terms

I don't think he engineered the whole assault of course I think that was born of general frustration.

Nobody except clarkson and tymon know the situation

Maybe tymon was being an arse and deserved a whack, or maybe clarkson is an arse and it was unprovoked... We will never know so could everyone get off their high horses

All we know is........he's not had his contract renewed

Relax, it is just an idle banter :) Since as you rightly remarked only them two and whoever was an eye and ear witness to it know what really went down we can only speculate.

That's not quite right

You've put the blame fairly and squarely on the producer, whose job it is to 'pander to every whim of the star'

I assumed from that that you had read the terms of the producer's contract

Do you know what a producer actually does? He is the antithesis of a Jobsworth. I realty give in. He pretty much hit his boss on the shoot

Clonkson has said he hit Tymon. He ask the trolls and haters to leave Tymon alone as he was innocent in the whole fracas. Nuff said for me.

I think the ladybird book of Telly is needed from Santa this year. Producer = Jobsworth. One of the most crass statements I have heard about television in many years (and I have heard quite a few). I spent today working for a TV Producer and I can not find words to explain how much he is the very opposite of a Jobsworth. he has real power and makes real grown up decisions that we follow as it is his show!

He may have done this to preserve his public image as much as he can or has been advised by his agent.

Or was hoping tymon wouldnt press charges if he bum sucked a little

My mind is open

he went on the Beeb and said "I did it", he went on camera and said "I did it", he has written in the press "I did it"

I think he didn't do it and it was a scam, but he kept saying he did it because he thought that would make people think he didn't, except that was a double bluff, so he did do it, ah ha, but that's what he wanted you to think, so in reality, he didn't do it. Except he did.  Ergo Sum, billy b0ll0x

Exactly.

Dear Jezza, if you're short of ideas (and talent), and we know your chat show flopped, so turn over to bbc 2 now and watch how it's done. Clare Balding, everything you're not.

I don't get how anyone can say "he deserved a whack"

No one ever deserved a whack, control your anger.

As for being communist because a man was sacked for hitting his colleagues wtf.

If a colleague hit me I would expect them to be sacked regardless of how many friends, followers on Twitter or any

Petition

In fact I was assaulted at work. I wanted the guy sacked. He gave a heartfelt genuine apology and admitted he should not have been drinking on the medication he was on so we left it there. Had BOTH not been the case I would have pressed for his dismissal.

Might have made me unpopular with some but I suspect not as many saw the unprovoked attack.

If Clarkson had been prosecuted it would also have had an affect on his career in the USA. Would he have even got in?

Just deserts.

I also happen to think he was getting boring and repetitive so fresh blood is what it needs.

I am certainly not saying he deserved a whack and I am not defending Clonkson here :).

As for Balding I'd rather watch paint dry!

Clarkson vs Balding

I'd put my money on Balding
