VCDS: Foglights as coming home/leaving home lights

Featured Replies

I would like to do a VCDS change for the coming home/leaving home lights on my car which is a VRS TSI hatchback (MY 2014).

In the pinned topic on "Octavia III VCDS Adaptations - tried and tested", xpower gives the following information with regard to setting the foglights as coming home/leaving home lights:

"(4)-Comfort illumination-Coming Home Leuchten - change from “ABBLENDLICHT” to “Nebellicht)” (Foglight)

On my car This does NOT swap low beam to fog lights, but uses FOG lights as well. (any suggestions how this could be done would be great)"

Later on in the same post, hravec gives the following advice:

"*** Coming / leaving home through the fog lights and no xenon lights ***
Unit 09 , secure access 31347 changed :
Comfort - illumination - Coming Home Leuchten set the Fog Light
- (x ) Leuchte6ABL LC5 - C 6 Lichtfunktion set to Not active
- (x ) Leuchte7ABL RB1 Lichtfunktion C - 7 set to Not active
The value of x varies depending on the configuration of lights - or are generally or Bi-Xenon headlights"

Can anyone confirm that hravec's coding does indeed meet xpower's (and my) requirement, i.e. that the foglights come on as CH/LH lights whilst the bi-xenon headlights remain off? Also, what happens with the DRLs with this coding?

I'm a VCDS novice, so any help is much appreciated.

You need to remove the CH/LH function from your low beams. If you pull a full adaptation map from 09 you will be able to find the channels to set to not active by looking through the csv file.

Thanks, andyvee, for pointing me in the right direction. As I said, I'm a VCDS novice, and hadn't previously even tried producing a module adaptation map ... but I have now!

I haven't yet made any changes to the CH/LH function, and from the adaptation map CSV file I've filtered out the following entries which relate to currently active CH/LH functions. The comment column is my attempt to identify the various "leuchten" (lights) from other parts of the CSV file.

From the bottom two rows of the above, it looks like I've confirmed hravec's advice for taking out the bi-xenon headlights as CH/LH lights. But before I try making the changes, does this analysis look right?

I don't really understand why there are two entries for each of the DRL's ("Tagfahrlichtmodul"). "Versorgung" appears to translate as supply.

My apologies - that last post didn't format correctly! I tried pasting a 12x3 table from MS Word, and everything looked OK until I pressed the Post button. But everything now appears as one column. I'm not sure how to improve on this.

Here is my filtered table of adaptation map entries as a JPG. I hope this is readable.

Looks good to me :)

Either change the channels you have identified to 'not active' or change these 2 channels to a value of 0, or both! The choice is yours. Personally I would do both, remove the function and remove the brightness level.

Thanks again, andyvee, for your help and advice!

Suppose we could do with correcting the main how to list - did this on mine ages ago so now ony the fog lights work as CH / LH not the low beam as well.

Hi folks. I’ve just been reading through this adaption and I have successfully turned off the dips and have fogs as ch/lh - having read this thread, I will check my adaption map but can anyone confirm that you also need to do this for the sidelight bulb (standard halogens) as mine seem to illuminate on ch/lh.

I also have set my fogs as drl but that shouldn’t affect this at night I believe

Hey again - any help on this would be appreciated 👍🏻
