Parking Sensors failed to register a post behind Citigo

Featured Replies

I picked up my brand new Citigo Greentech Elegance today. I nearly hit a post while reversing my car into a parking space. The PID did not give any visual warning of this. I was 1mm away from hitting it.

Did you get any audible warning?

Yes it beeped but the visual display did not show post at that corner,

Thin objects like posts may not always be detected by parking sensors. Take care.

Always listen to the sound in preference to the visual clues.

I did exactly the same thing as you,i put it down to the fact  that the post was not very wide, and therefore none of the 3  parking sensors picked it up.

its the first car that I have  had with this  system, and intend to get it deleted

The the audible sound is

Beep, Beep. Beep, Beep. Beep, Beep. Beep, Beep. Beep, Beep. Beep, Beep..............Ouch

Is it definitely a factory fit set of parking sensors or a dealer after market fit?, whist you sit in the car with it in reverse but not moving get a friend to walk about behind you and see what visual displays you get to go with the audible ones.

Parking sensors may not always see posts.

Id trust my eyes more than a computer [emoji6]

Listen to the audible warnings and look where you are reversing. I never look at my screen.

It was my first experience of parking sensors in my car and done 5 miles from new. The sensors are factory fitted.

As with all electronic aids, they are simply that.  Aids.

Use them to aid reversing but don't depend on them to cover every eventuality.
