I only noticed today that new pride and joy has a rather cheap looking black dashboard. I was expecting the brushed finish which I understood to be standard on the SE L. That's what the brochure says anyway.

Mine is brushed finish.. it looks really smart.. quite like it a lot.  I was dreading it was going to be silver/chrome one at first, but was pleasantly relieved.. :)

To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement.

If the brochure says it I would be having words? I'm sure it can be retrofitted, just depends if you want them fettling around with your dash.

the thing is - it gets really complicated as they change and replace depending on what styling inside you have on your seats, also the steering wheel choice and whether you have selected black decorative inserts..

as I've got a sports wheel with controls and chrome decorative finish, I think I got a brushed dashboard.. to go with it?!?  there is a bit of info at the back of a brochure with regard to black decorative inserts.. but it may be you have to pay for those.. perhaps the dealer put it on by mistake, or it's different on an estate compared to the hatchback..

All good points. I'll see what the dealer says tomorrow. Black is a £50 option but it doesn't half look cheap.

The options on the SEL are

Onyx/ Grey , Brushed Dashboard

Onyx/ Grey,  Black Dashboard

It will be down to as you want through the build, or if the Sales Person ticked the wrong choice.

I've looked at the paperwork and there's no mention of the black option.

Sorry to hear about this Prog, off to check my order now. Hope you can get it sorted.

The brushed dash was pointed out me on the car in the showroom as one of the new Fabia's design features. I remember asking if it was standard or an option and was told that it was standard unless I had different seats which I didn't opt for.

You probably have the default option (seen a couple of showroom SEL's with the no insert dash), however the dealer should have asked which you wanted, as ours did when we ordered the Monte; default grey seats or red no cost option.

So sad to hear you have not got what you were expecting.

Sorry maybe duff gen from me.

That was the Option on a Red SEL as i was configurating,  maybe different on other colours.

The brochure clearly states that standard for the SE L is "Onyx/Grey with brushed dashboard (Black dashboard insert available as an option)"

If black is an option then someone must've chosen that option somewhere along the line. It wasn't me so it must've been the dealer or the factory.

I'll be paying great attention when I pick up my Estate tomorrow. I've ordered the sports seats, however I don't know if that makes a difference.

That's just how I read it Prog ,mine States the same on configuration and brochure so will check as soon I see the order . Don't let it spoil the new car though I'm sure they can get round it for you.

Hopefully it can indeed be sorted. It's just taken the shine off the new car experience a bit.

Have you checked your paperwork to see what options were added, I know you said you never chose it but why would the salesman choose it, it wouldn't be in his best interest to choose something the customer has never asked for.

It's just a thought but perhaps you were just caught up in the moment of choosing and ordering a new car and didn't realise!

That is why I went for the blue interior, as the white dash insert is so much nicer than the other options.

Why you can't have the white inserts with black seats was a mystery to me, and I was a bit unsure about the blue seat fabric, but glad I did in the end.

Surely you must be able to buy different coloured inserts, if not now, then soon enough someone will do it.

Sorry you're not too keen on your dash, hopefully you can sort it.

Yes, I've double checked and the only options listed are the ones I wanted. I also have an email I sent listing my final spec.

If that's the case and it's not standard spec then a trip to the dealer or a phone call is needed. I've only sat in an SE so wouldn't have a clue what colour it should be.

Having read this topic.... I'm worried now.... As i'm picking my new toy up next Wednesday! A white estate SEL with sports seat option, with the big alloy wheels! I didnt take notice of the dash insert part....!!!!!! i'll have to review my order form again.....

Not sure how the SE and SEL sold in GB correspond to the Ambiance and Elegance models sold over here, but I can see 5 different dash options, some specific some optional.

Light and dark brushed alu as standard for Amb and Eleg., options are none (meaning matte black plastic) and white or black glossy.

Chosen at order.

I picked up my SEL Estate today and can confirm it has the brushed onyx/grey finish which looks good.

Just make sure you add it to the pinned owners list..

Yesterday was stupidly busy but I spoke to the dealer this morning. They're not sure what's happened but are willing to sort it out as soon as possible. I'm popping in tomorrow morning to show them exactly what I've got and what I want.

I was expecting an argument so am very pleasantly surprised.
