what paint to use on brakes

Featured Replies

Hey. My brakes need a fresh coat of paint. I painted one of the carriers with halfords high temp paint. It stayed black for two days then went rusty looking again. I wire brushed them and cleaned them with brake cleaner so I'm guessing it was just rubbish paint. On previous cars I used hammerite paint and had no issues. Is this what other people use or is there a preferred paint. Tied between going black or yellow.

I think you have answered your own question really.

Maybe, I plan on using the car on tracK hence why I bought high temp paint.

I always use hammerite even on my discs and they get very hot at times :)

Hammerite FTW! I`ve been using it for years, not an issue.

I'll stick with the good old hammerite then lol

Be warned , i painted mine and they looked great but never felt quite as sharp afterwards

Also... if you can find it they did once do hammerite in an almost perfect match for the Skoda Green...

I went for smooth black in the end. One coat done on drivers side Front and Rear. Did the metal shield on the rear too as it was getting abit rust looking.

I actually have 1 spare 500ml tin of hammerite smooth green :)

Is that the match for the stock colour? How much do you want for it dude?

It's ever so slightly different, but only out by a tiny tiny bit. If you're painting all the calipers you won't see any difference at all - it's a near perfect match. Plus the tins last a while, did all my calipers and there's plenty left for doing the imaginary RARB and strut brace that I don't yet own as well :)
