I quite like these alloys, thinking of getting some to run my winter tyres on, looking at around £380 with postage. What do you fine chaps reckon?.post-111009-0-33700600-1428592347_thumb.jpgpost-111009-0-33700600-1428592347_thumb.jpg

Expensive for winters!

Is that a polished / diamond cut finish too? Definitely not suited to winter use in my experience...

Good looking alloy though  :sun:

Summer wheel, yes.

Winter wheel, no.

I like 'em and was going to say that the price seemed reasonable.

What size? 17, 18....or 22" with spinners :D

They would be 18", and yeah diamond cut kinda puts me off (slightly). But if I buy a sealant and some quality alloy wheel cleaning products and clean them every weekend - (yeah right)they will be fine.

How much does a set of thermisto's go for used ones of course,£200 plus no doubt would need a refurb another £100 plus all of a sudden these alloys aren't looking to bad a deal.

Wile7 how's your stunning car doing?. I am still jelous.

Ok. You say you'll clean them every weekend etc.... However I think the salt and gravel, with wheels spinning, in deep snow, will scuff these to hell. It's a shame as I think they look good.

Have a look on tyreleader. I've just been looking for winter wheels and tyres for my next car - and there are some nice prices on some alloys (and winter tyres) at the moment.

How about matt black, to go with your black estate?

The UK of late has had worse winters than Germany so probably need to put my sensible head on the last two winters here have been positively tropical in comparison. As I already own a set of 18" winter tyres I think I shall have a look on tyre leader as recommended by jakeBlade for some black alloys - thank you.

Yep indeed winter 2014/15 took a far old while to arrive it never got properly cold till after Christmas. Winter 2013/14 we could of done away with winter tyres it snowed once (in Feb)and the car needed to be de-iced half a dozen times, obviously further south it was a different story.

She's doing fine at the moment Matty - really enjoying her/him/it :)

Half way through a small tour from Geneva down to Perpignan to see the outlaws, then down to Barcelona and back to Geneva.

Car is a joy to drive. Comfortable and quick. Put a subtle pinstripe on it a few days ago (a subject of another thread) and saving to have a few bits and bobs done other the next couple of months (remap, exhaust.....). Will keep updating on here somewhere

Have you got any evidence rather than anecdotal , having spent some time in

Germany the winters tend to be pretty harsh , this year it rarely dropped below 7 degrees around here

I suppose Global warming may cover it, first few years me and the family living in Germany the winters were full on minus twenty six massive snowfall we even had white Christmas's great when we had family staying with us. Last proper winter we had would of been 2009 we had snow on the ground for months this was over to the west - Monchengladbach, we have been back in Bielefeld since 2011 and the winters have grown warmer, wetter and shorter, which from a driving point of view is a good thing.
