Car Reliability Survey ?

Featured Replies

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/road-and-rail-transport/11537964/Bentleys-are-the-least-reliable-cars-says-survey.html

According to the article, based on a survey of 50,000 insurance policies.

The article states that Honda is the most reliable (at the top) , with Skoda @ no 8 and VW and particularly Audi right down the bottom.

Its a little confusing because if you look at the average lifetime outlay on repairs, its Daewo who are the lowest spend.

Wonder if the survey compilers made any statistical adjustment (Weighting)  for either the actual cost of parts, by type or the number of each type of vehicle on the road ? Doubt it.

Maybe all the Honda owners are of a certain age to have time to reply to these surveys more than other owners, Lol.

Only kiddin. I have owned three Honda's myself, Accord 1.8 3 door 1985, Accord 2.0 saloon 1994 and a Civic 1.6sri Vtech 1998 and none of them ever let me down.

That said my first, Volvo 345dl, second, Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6lx (?) Rover 216gsi, Saab 9/3,  Audi A4 and Skoda Octavia, and I cannot remember any of them letting me down. (Touch wood).

The only car I remember having a problem with was a girlfriend's old Vauxhall shovette, but this was only the battery or alternator (or both).

If the car started, we went to work. If it didn't start, even with a push down the road, it was out with the battery and back to bed for us. Yippee. (we both worked at the same place) Good times.

Mk 2 & 3 Fabia is well placed. 31. Main issue - Electrical Problems 37%. Tell us something we don't know.

Yeti not too good, 151. Main issue - Engine problems 47%. There's a surprise

Mk2 Fabia 2007 - 2014,  lots of them on the roads, about 35-40% of all Skoda Sold in the UK in those years.

3rd Generation All New Fabia, has 11 members that posted in the Owners Register.

About the only cars in the UK on the road other than a few dozen are Dealership Demonstrators.

Seen loads of mk3's lately George.

Thrifty have a number of them as well

That is interesting that they have got them out to the Fleet Users, the Private buyers are waiting, including ones that have had their trade ins at the dealers and left car less.

Not much time for them in the past month to have been going wrong hopefully.

Its very odd,for although prioritising the fleet clients will brighten the VAG balance sheets re turnover, the per car mark up in comparison to that of a private sale is minimal. They appear to have got their priorities muddled again, unless they have a mountain of unsold pre built stock to shift or something. We used to do this at Ford during the 80's and it backfired on us.

The mindset of most motorists is if its good enough for [insert rental company] then they must be good.  Just don't tell these people they actually get them cheap as chips, and offload them before issues arise.

Some rental firms used to have a rolling order to get new A/B/C/D etc class cars every x months for £y

Mine is 17.

Is that good?

No doubt honda can make a super reliable engine.

Its just the test of the car IMO.

I dunno the Accord I have is very well put together.
