Problems with large capacity USB sticks

Featured Replies

Yes, it isnt well made, and the warranty is worthless, BUT IT WORKS, and that is more than can be said for the £300 Clarion I replaced it with.

BTW, if it is a knock-off, that would suggest there are car units that do work correctly; so why arent car makers using them??

I believe the modern expression is FFS !

I agree, if the Chinese can actually get it to work why can't the supposedly superior Westerners do it?.

Why does ICE have to be so difficult?.

So do I need 2x32GB 'sticks' to get all my music read?.

How do I arrange for a half library on each stick........what a PITA.

not so much 2 x 32Gb thumb drives, more 2 x 4,000 music files; so yeah, a PITA.

if it is any consolation, my previous expensive Clarion (10 years back), had a 2GB drive size limit; my car cubby box was filled with 2GB drives full of music; now it handled reading them correctly, immediate play while reading the contents; it even handled BT connections correctly,  which is why I am so hacked off with the new model.

Can I shove half my music files back into the cloud and then sync one stick and then do the reverse for the other one?.

Two computers aren't a solution with a library either I guess.

A right PITA

Clarion haven't been the best in car audio for some time. £300 would buy a nice spec JVC, Alpine or Panasonic unit which would handle media much better.

As for the car limits, all car makers want you to tick the more expensive media unit (radio) when you order new so limit the standard radios.

Not different to Skoda/VW and the Amundsen/RNS315 v Columbus/RNS515. One has a limit on fikes/file qty & media size, the other has a much bigger limit.

Then there's also the ipod/Apple factor which wouldn't have a limit at all.

I wish I had known, I went for a Clarion because my 2004 model had been so good; I certainly wont get another. I did look at other makes, but the tiny buttons and stupid light shows are not for me; I did try for the last decent Nakamichi model, but got conned (Amazon.com did at least refund me)*

* Did I post that story?? Ordered the Nakamichi from the States,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and got sent 5 sheets of sanding paper.

Yes - yes you did post that..

So it's back to the iPod it seems as my Xperia Z2 doesn't give me much in the way of track details on the micro SD card.
