Turned it on and everything is in german, can't change it back to english, can get sat nav on and images still appear but the media system just wont work, that no radio, cd etc

Generally a firmware brain fart. If you have a firmware disc then usually reinstalling it will sort the issue.

If you mean pressing the two arrows and the mic button yeah I did, sent it into the Skoda nav start up screen then back to the same issue.

 

Called my local Skoda dealer they said the might need to download new software onto at a cost of 45 quid.

 

If it's the firmware disc I need could I just buy it and try that?

It's not something I would buy, mate. There are plenty of sources for the firmware. I'll message you.
