creaking rear suspension.... stopped?

Featured Replies

The other month my rear suspension started creaking over bumps, twists etc... it was very annoying and suspected an issue with springs/arb bushes or shocks, although the driving and handling seemed ok.

As per my sig. I have eibach lowering springs fitted 4 years and whiteline RARB fitted nearly 18 months ago..

Anyway, before getting the chance to get it looked at, it has suddenly stopped creaking??? I am now even more concerned!

It's the weather mate. Cold wet mornings = sounds like old iron bed spring. Warm weather = quiet.

hmmm, somehow I don't think the weather has been that extreme!

my whiteline RARB started to creak after some 12k, fitted in October 2014. It had the new bushes that don't require grease. I got them greased and it stopped the creaking for a day or two.

Contacted Whiteline and they sent some new bushes, yellow which require grease.

Had them fitted today and so far no creaking.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.......

Rear console Bushes!!, find them and squirt white grease into them and go for a drive, if they go quiet you need to replace the bushes...

thanks, but whilst it would explain the noise, it doesn't explain the stopping of it? Unless there is a mystery grease monkey going about greasing my bushes!

I am not sure, but I think it could have possibly been a spring moving out of it seating but has finally reseated?? a theory!

+1 for post #2

Dry and old bushes creak. Wet weather stops it temporarily.

hmm, actually you are contradicting post #2 ?

Whilst I understand that the weather may play a part, over the last 2 months its been fairly average.., over the period it was creaking it was constantly creaking no matter the weather.

It is due a service soon, I will no doubt mention the creaking and check the bushes.. thanks anyway

Ours creaks first thing on a morning then stops after about a mile.

I suspect the suspension bushes are getting a little old/tired.

Prob didn't read it properly. My comment was based on my experience with my MkII. Worn bushes. No clunking from the suspension but creaky after prolonged dry weather and cold.
