Dash Cam Advice

Nextbase 402g is good. Has the advantage of GPS & the screen displays (as a selectable option) a compass rose & a digital speedometer. Good build quality, true HD video, superb aftersales direct from Nextbase.

Just been to Halfords and bought one of these, so I'll have a play with it at the weekend.

The build quality seems a lot better than the Mini 0805 I had for a week.

Wow! Lots to think about for sure!

When I say reasonable price, I'm willing to spend up to £200 on one. So I should be able to get something reasonable it seems. That £80 actually looks quite good?! I could always start with that and move it to the back of I got a better one.

So it's basically impossible to get night shots? The review I read had said the night vision was good on the expensive version of whichever camera it was, but no good really on the cheap one.

Simbo - I know, I'm over by about 400 msgs! Haha! Are you on facebook?

Bossfox has had a few dash cams and would a good person to ask.

The drive pro is good in the dark no problem with glare. I like it and so did auto express. The ability to read number plates is what you want.

I have just purchased a Mini 806, hardwired into the car yesterday using piggy back fuse connected to rear wiper fuse. Excellent little camera very discreet, GPS, 2 x memory card slots & probably most importantly picture quality night and day is superb quality bit of kit.

Loz,

I'm a little underwhelmed by the picture quality on the mi-witness. It's OK to show what was happening, but actually quite hard to read number plates in more situations than I'd like.

I do like the software, that the front and rear cams are in sync, it shows you positioning on google maps and you can see your speed on there too. It's nice to be able to review on the phone, but I doubt the phone app is much better than a lot of the software on cameras with screens.

Why not ask your insurance which ones they approve? You might get some of your outlay back through a discount.

Thanks Simbo, I'll bear you in mind :D

I will certainly have a look at your for sale thread, I was considering posting a 'wanted' thread myself just to see if there was anything out there haha! How much is the Mini 805 then? That's two good reviews for that one so far.....

Is this mini 0805 in any way related to the 0806 in this thread which is proving to be extremely problematic?

Without wanting to turn this into a for sale thread - how much might you be charging for your old one simbo? :)

www.techmoan.com - The bloke seems to live for action/dash cameras and odd gadgets.

I see Garmin have got a range of them in their sat navs now.

Interesting conversation as I've been looking at getting one... especially since a lot of the muppets that are now driving on the road nowadays.
