I am guessing a v8 out of a monaro, in a strange way I like the fact it looks like a bit rude boy but has the engine to back it upwwas 

Was a Holden HSV engine, ran a modified Omega rear axle, had a crap load of custom work in the shell and running gear which he did mostly himself as far as i know, i never liked the styling of it, it could have been done a lot better, but the noise of the thing was insane!!! and my god did it move :)

It's almost a reverse sleeper as generally if you were to see it, you would think it had been driven through Halfords and was a 1.6 or something, but to have that engine which originally was from a corvette, 5.7 lump?

Not entirely sure if I'm honest, but you are right it did have that crashed through a Halfords shop window look about it, but as soon as you heard it there was no doubt it wasn't a 1.6 :D
