Feel free to post up any other mental ones. :)

Lots of work to be done there ....thats dedication for you. Can't be many of those left ou there. :|

Thinking off of maybe a Dacia Q car.

Since it only cost £10K to buy, as James May said you can have two for the same price as most other hatches, then look at the Renault Clio Mk3 part bin, ie V6 3 litre engine as used. Still be FWD so awful getting it down so perhaps a Sandero would be better ie less rear overhang. Or match the Dacia Pyke Peake car

Got 3rd using the Nissan GTR engine with 850 hp ...

I am a fan of mad projects, if I had more money (isn't that always the case) I would look into the doing something with a VW split screen camper, take the running gear from a 4wd modern car and chuck it under the shell,

There is a split screen pickup that is running Dodge Viper running gear, which is awesome.

Well, there was an OEM T25 synchro, and Porsche fitted 911 motors, transaxles and brakes into some T25s, so a Bulli with a 911 4x4 powertrain should be possible. In fact, it might even be possible to get a 959 powertrain in with some intercooler re-engineering.

Very true, at the moment funds don't permit the purchase of a splitty as they hold their value to well, but is one of only few cars that me and the boss agree on, pie in the sky thinking at the moment.

I'm presuming most have seen Project Binky

My personal favorite (no offense to BossFox)

I love those that are Built not Bought / Commissioned to be built by others.

Probably be interesting to see "Crazy Projects" within Budget Bands for Real comparison. So what can be achieved. Without a bottomless pit of funds!

Suggest may be £5-10k,10-20k,20-30k and £40k plus .

What did you do in your budget band?

I remember some years back a bloke putting a V8 into an Astra coupe (conversion to RWD). There was a huge thread about the build on Migweb but I don't think it's there any more

I remember seeing pics of a "mini-mixer" a few yrs back.

an original mini with the rear extended and a working, small, ready mix concrete unit with chutes fitted. Looked briliant!

It must be a great feeling to have the financial backing to be able to do pay for that kinda work though! I cant afford a gtr, nevermind getting one just to break it for parts to put in a second brand car car

This guy has a street legal ford granada with a 715cui twin turbo boss engine

2400hp, in a granada who looks almost stock.

There is a story going around, that he once was about to be overtaken by a M3 while towing a caravan. He Supposedly just floored it and left the m3 sulikng behind.

(Sorry Richard, couldn't resist it......)

Way back in the 90s in the pub one night me and a friend were discussing mad engine swaps and at the time he had a thing for small FIATs so was considering getting a Panda 4x4 and putting either an Alfa V6 in or a a Fiat twin cam.... or even an Integrale engine.... but these ideas usually came after a few pints...

I personally have no problem with a project being bought, it's the crazy idea in the first place which is relevant

We don't all have the technical knowledge to bring it into being, in fact I'm guessing very few would have that level of knowledge and skill

Hatchy, that bloke is called Pete, he's married to my Dads wife's sister, and this is the Astra you are talking about:

if you want anymore pics i can ask :)

I am guessing a v8 out of a monaro, in a strange way I like the fact it looks like a bit rude boy but has the engine to back it up
