I had some running issues with the car it was quite lumpy on idle and would hesitate on light acceleration which annoyed the hell out of me so I started to try to fix it, new plugs, new leads, new fuel filter, new dizzy and rotor arm, cleaned all the earths ect still couldn't fix it.

New Lambda sensor.

IMG_10831_zpsfmgsq1t5.jpg

Still no good so I double checked timing, compression, all the vacuum lines, knock sensor, new inlet manifold gasket, changed all the silicone hoses on the back of the engine under the throttle bodies and a new Ecu temp sender. Still no joy until I finally decided to try a working Maf and bingo it's now running sweet again happy days.

Whilst I was poking and prodding I had a look at my Ecu and confirmed it has been modified by Horsham developments.

Another job that needed to be done was the exhaust it was knocking on the rear subframe.

IMG_1053_zpskdriitoq.jpg

Whilst I was at it I thought I'd better do the exhaust rubbers as well I remembered I had some powerflex one's for my Golf so I had a go at fitting them.

Much better now  but whilst I was under there I noticed some surface rust in places under the car near the rear. Time to get the wire wheel and rust treatment out.

I wish I took a few more pictures but basically I went over most of the back end where there was any rust and I got most of it then covered it in black stone chip, It needs undersealing at some point but I don't plan to use the car in the wet or over winter.

Another update and some random photos.

Needed to take the throttle bodies off to get at the hoses behind and to replace the manifold gasket and ecu temp sender.

IMG_1115_zpsehzsailz.jpg

Which left a big hole so I did a bit of cleaning and started to fit some of the hoses.

IMG_1117_zpsugcxowcw.jpg

Old ecu temp sender vs new one.

IMG_1118_zpsmctkadno.jpg

Whilst I was at it I thought I'd brighten the engine bay up a little as it's quite an uninspiring place at the minute. Bring on the bling.

IMG_1119_zpszuqvcv9g.jpg

Defiantly need to give the rocker cover a lick of paint.

Also I got around to finally fitting some new front brakes the brakes on this car were not very good.

So this is what I decided to replace them with. They are from a Mitsubishi FTO.

Not very pretty they have been poorly painted by previous owner and their is no way they are going on the car looking like that so time to get the wire wheel back out again.

Couple more updates.

Upgraded my front speakers the ones that were in there weren't very good and I had some spare ones floating about so I chucked them in.

Original ones.

New ones behind the grills you can just about make them out. I was planning to take loads of photos of me doing it but couldn't find my phone at the time. Basically I removed the old ones and brought 2 mdf spacers, bolted the spacers to the door and the speakers to the spacers then wired them up. Easy peasy.

Some new functional engine bling.

Gave her a wash today and a coating of Collinite ready for her winter hibernation.

Being a clumsy sod I managed to break my radiator today as well, I thought my temporary repair would be good enough but it turned out it wasn't so here's a random photo of me pulled over at the side of the road waiting for her to cool down so I could get home lol.

WP_20150919_16_11_27_Pro_zps8k5qsdfr.jpg

No more driving her until my new rad turns up. :'(

It's a bit bigger than the original made from all Aluminium so it should be much more efficient too.

Also a new bush for the gear stick I've been having problems occasionally getting into 1st and reverse so this should tighten things up a bit.

Took the day off today to replace my broken radiator.

Here's the old one in all it's glory.

And here's where I broke it unfortunately my repair job was a bit rubbish.

Here's what it should look like ish,

Now the old rads out you can see the size difference between the old one and the new one.

Getting the new one one in was easier said than done I had to remove the intercooler pipe to be able to get it in there, but it's now in and plumbed in.

WP_20150925_12_43_40_Pro_zpsc219dkom.jpg

I decided to install the fans on the opposite side which funnily enough is where their supposed to be, Not a lot of room between them and the turbo now though.
