my16 upgrades and facelift

Featured Replies

Have there been any more updates announced, apart from the engines, thinking more of wheels n seat and dash upgrades,to make the spaceback look and feel like the models skoda uk percieve it to compete with

With it being a facelift, it is unlikely that the dash is going to change at all, seat changes will only be cloth (plus the already-announced plastic valence for the base of the front seats). The facelift is all about low-cost simple cosmetic tweaks and implementing manufacturing cost savings & parts sharing.

I read somewhere that the dash is going to be something like the fabia. as mirror link head unit is going to be the same

All the pics I've seen to-date of supposed facelift Rapids have shown the facelifted car still with the original Mk1 dash, which would be as expected.

FL Skoda upgrades rarely if ever change the interior other than fabric or updates to controls/entertainment systems.

Posts on here suggest Faibia III upgrades on the cards, which to me will make the Spaceback a better buy than the Fabia III; Spaceback is quieter and rides better with its Golf IV derived rear suspension.

Has anyone seen this in the flesh yet?  Any ideas if the Seat Toledo will also get this or if it can be retrofitted to the Rapid and/or Toledo?

Looks so nasty and cheap without any cover there.

Cheers

Nothing seems to have surfaced yet in terms of detailed pictures or a whole car.

Also, I don't think we'll see a facelift car in the flesh in the UK until closer to the reg change in September - between now and then the focus will be on clearing out all the Euro 5 stock from the supply chain.

Its not a part of the car I look at TBH. When I get in I see clear dials, smart looking media system, piano black dash insert etc etc. I don't really care for stuff I cant see from my seat.

Fair point, but at the same time it's a very clear and unfinished looking aspect you can see as soon as you open either of the front doors. The base of the seats are very bare - sort of 1980s British Leyland bare - it is odd in a car like the Rapid (would expect it in a Dacia, but the seats in those are trimmed right to the floor like most cars) and the fact they've addressed it in the facelift shows it must have been an issue flagged by a fair few owners and would-be buyers.

Fingers crossed it can be retrofitted. I'll be investing it it can be.

I agree that it's a small detail and one you can't see from the driver's seat but as Chris says you see it everytime you open the door and it looks cheap. The Fabia/Ibiza and Leon/Octavia either side of these cars in the range have trim like this and it does just finish the car off.

Whatever I order is going to end up being a factory build due to options/colour so probably Augusr delivery I would guess.

Rog it looks cheap because it is. Loaded pre-reg Rapid & Toledo appear on autotrader at 11k. Thats peanuts for what you get.

If considered from the perspective of RRP, the car is lacking quite a lot - but at 16-17k, I wouldn't have bought one.

I know that...  It's just in so many other areas they have successfully hidden the cheapness!

Hey Rog, I picked the exact Toledo spec I wanted, and didnt have to wait. The next ship had one on to my exact spec (9 days after ordering). And it wasn't within 25% of RRP either :) so don't pay big money. This is a car SEAT dealers cannot shift, so drive a hard bargain.

What are they then?

What other cheap family 5 doors are out there?

Kia?

Dacia?

FIAT?

Kia's not so cheap any more.  You spec up a C'eed and you can spend a shed load of cash on one!  They hold their values relatively well too.  People talk about Kia having brought their quality and design up to speed but they've brought their prices up too...

I am driving a pretty hard bargain - At the moment, £1500 off list, £2000 dealer contribution, 0% PCP (saving about £2k in interest) with no deposit, 3 years free servicing.  Will nail them down properly once we have the seat trim thing sorted...

tHe rapid is marketed against a section of the market that a lot better cars are available, it is not the car that should be for the price it is looking as it does thats why they are not selling and are not worth a fart in a year

Yes but if you only pay 11/12k to start with it doesn't depreciate much :)
