Fun vs sensible vrs

Featured Replies

I'm looking at getting a new vrs and I'm having a battle with myself: I want to get it in sprint yellow with the 19" wheels and leather upholstery because I think it looks absolutely awesome. But the sensible voice in my head says that the 19" wheels will be to hard on what is already a pretty hard ride and the yellow paint will look childish and hurt resale values.

Which voice do I listen to guys? Help please :-S

Unless you are buing used you wont get sprint yellow, apart from unsold stock, as its been dropped, get a tdi vrs and have best of both,

If you want to stand out, get Rallye green,if you to blend in, go for the greys,Avoid black unless you wash and polish every day.Happy with the 18",but it all depends on road conditions in your area.I carry fragile items occasionally and want them to stay in one piece.

Depends how long you intend keeping it for.  If it's say 5 years plus then at resale time I'm sure there will be someone out there who likes the look of big wheels on a yellow car.  If it's a shorter period of time then it would be harder to sell on as it would be big wheels on an expensive yellow car.

Ultimately it's your car, do what your heart wants!

Oh no they removed the sprint yellow!!!! But it looked so good! The green looks a bit dull on the configurator is it the same in real life? Gloucester roads are not great, bumpy with lots of potholes. The sensible voice says that 19" wheels will be susceptible to punctured and damaged alloys from these. The childish voice days that the 18" wheels will be pretty much as susceptible so not much in worrying, if it happens, having the smaller wheels probably won't have made much difference... Is the leather upholstery an extravagance I don't need? The sensible voice says in winter the seat heaters won't get through the layers of clothing and in winter the leather will get very hot and I'll stick to it. The child voice says shut up they look cool and leather is comfy.... Aaaaarrrrggghhh

If you want to stand out I go for rallye green it's a very nice looking colour.as for the 19" xtreme the ride is know different to the the 18" wheel maybe a bit harder ride there not a lot in it

The leather seats are very comfortable the seat heater work very well in the winter and in the summer they do get hot in sun light ( but not a biggie for me as I've got the sunroof) and the seats are easy to clean to

19s are fine and the ride won't suffer too much, just but be wary of potholes!

Sprint yellow may have gone but Rallye Green is still available, go on, you know ha wanna! ;)

I think if I was to order again I'd go for the Rallye green, but I'm more than happy with Race blue.

Looking at the video that Richf has posted, I see why its discontinued, my opinion. Remember having a loan of a yellow Capri. Always had bonnet covered in red bug blood. Must have thought it was a 70mph flower.....

Definitely. No problem at all with ride on the 19's. Heated and leather seats (and heated screen) are a must.

If you want to stand out from the crowd then rallye green is your colour!

Not so fast.... If you get one then we won't be so exclusive.... On a serious note, I love the green and about 90% of the comments are usually very positive. A few have sneered or just said they don't like it. This shows that It's not everybody's cup of tea..which is why nearly everybody has red, black, blue and white and grey.

thanks for the advice guys - im going to have a bit more of a think, i know i wont be able to buy a car until i can silence Mr sensible or rationalise Mr child [emoji14] I must admit the pictures of your green VRS meb90 look top so it may be the way forward :)

Whenever I park mine in amongst other cars, there's no doubting it stands out. If there's other "colours" about its not so prominent. Tonight in Aldi car park ever other one was black, grey, white etc, and there must have been over 60, then my Rallye green estate with black pack to add a bit of colour.

Not sure if you need a mediator or a psychiatrist. :)

I love my Rallye Green Vrs. To be fair, I did worry what it would look like, but it is much better in the flesh, especially with the grey seats.

Petrol estate with black pack, manual.
