3.6, but in which car? Or a V8?

Featured Replies

I had a monaro vxr 500 with 555bhp many years ago. to be honest it was no more expensive to run than my subaru wr1. Buy a V8

I must admit, the running costs of the Volvo V8 I had were pretty eye watering, and a lot more than my Scooby H6, however the sound was divine! As a work colleague of mine said "It sounds like NASCAR!".

I wish the Volvo could go around corners, cos if so, it'd be a no brainer...

A V8 Audi S is out of budget, so I think it'll be the V6 Passat CC...

If you're looking at the bigger engined Passat's, don't forget the Pheaton.

Thanks Steve, was very tempted by either the A8 W12 or the Phaeton W12, but I do think the CC just looks great...!

I'm with you on that, especially the pre-facelift CC. I just love the way the phaeton is such an epic car that blends in so well.

Just been on for my hourly Trader fix and spotted a very nice black Phaeton W12 for under £7k! Or a 2005/55 (cheaper tax) very low mileage 1 owner A8 W12 for just over £10k...

Wonder if I should see if the A8 dealer is interested in a px with my Superb with cash my way...?!

OK, I've found the perfect A8 6.0W12!!

A mate of mine has also got a W12 numberplate which he would be happy to lend me!!

Problem is dealer isn't interested in my Superb 4x4 as a PX - listed in For Sale section for £13,495 ono.

So, anyone willing to make me a reasonable offer?

W12 is perfect - one owner 66k miles FASH  and black with black leather - perfect!!

Help please!

Very excited

£616 plus vat for a water pump!!!!

Why so much?  They are about AUD300 (GBP200) for the pump.  Common as muck in AUS & USA.

They are a fairly average car from a build & refinement perspective.  My wife has owned about 15 of the 6 cylinder version since 1989.  The last was a 2012 Calais (the top of the range) and bits were falling off every other week.  Dampers were like marshmallow by 40,000km.

There seems to be some kind of Holden tax that vauxhall put in everything, £700 plus vat per brake disk?

I imported my own brakes, saved a fortune even after shipping and import duty, however ordered a water pump as you say was cheap as chips however an early ls2 pump arrived opposed to the later which I needed even ordering off chassis and wasn't worth £100 return price to refund £100 so got one in the UK as cud take be assed waiting a few weeks again either

Yeah they're not known for build quality but for just raw power and grunt it was immense... M5 performance for a fraction of the price when the prices were good!!!

I want a V8....

I'd like to throw in a vote for a Japanese V8 - specifically the one in the Volvo S80!

Went to see one at the weekend (used to have one a couple of years ago) and it just reminded me of what I have been missing!

The bark on startup is incredible, and, on a cold morning, it sounds like its gargling rocks - makes you happy to be alive!

I drove a mates MG ZT260 estate a few years ago - the humdrum rover with a Mustang V8 shoehorned in.

What a delightful beast!! And what a noise :)
