Euro 6 emissions

Featured Replies

How do you work out if your car comes under this?

Euro 6 cam in for NEW VEHICLES from Sept 2014

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_emission_standards

This is not new registered, but new models, i.e Superb 3, most of the current (new) Skoda range apart from newly type approved will almost certainly be EURO 5

If they are a few years old this will reflect the EURO standard, i.e 1,2,3,4,5

so is my 2015 reg, dec 2014 build 1.6tdi a Euro6 engine?

If it is a Superb MK2 I would say it is the same as mine, Euro 5 as per the Superb 2 brochure... (See attachment from April 2015 brochure)

As far as I am aware only brand new models i.e NEW Fabia, Superb 3 etc with new engine types will come under Euro 6 as these will be designed and produced after September 2014 when the Euro 6 came in.

Another scam for the taxman?

the new 1.6 - is it so different from mine? apart from 20ps extra!

Doing a bit of checking on some information I use for work, it seems that a few cars were made EU6 in 2013 even though the change was 2014 ... As you can see from the attached sheet there are not many .. A few Fabia and Octavia in the Skoda range..

This information is a few months old now, but shows date, engine code and number of cars and "E6" shown against them

Just downloaded the Skoda brochures, seems most (except current Superb) are now EU6 emissions now :) BUT is this a true EU6 engine or one "made and adapted" to meet the specification?

Remember all the problems when they added a DPF to the old PD engine.... The PD was never designed to have a DPF....

Look out for all the people that are unable to start their cars because they forgot to fill up with Adblue...

euro 4   euro 5  euro 6  its like buying the latest laptop,as soon as you get it home its out of date  .

I will stick to petrol,it smells nicer.

Tbh it doesn't really work like that, all the Euro 3,4,5,6 etc standards do is tweak the fuelling and emission control systems a bit each time to edge the emissions down below the new lower limit. The basic design of the diesel engine underneath hasn't really changed for decades!

Common rail was first developed in the 1960s and never meant to work with DPFs either, it's just easier to tweak a common rail engine to work with a DPF than it is to tweak a PD engine to work with a DPF.

Plus you cant run a Hdi/common rail one WVO or SVO (easily)............or Bookers would do a roaring trade

Except a laptop wont cost me £20K, be my sole earner, family transport, holiday wheels and be a debt for 4 years...."the 2nd biggest expense anyone makes after a house"

If any government does ban them with less than 10 years notice or an alternative emission free fuel (which im sure could be done) there should be riots

to convert a diesel engine to CNG

CNG is about 25P a litre
