Bolero - Add USB?

Featured Replies

I've tried searching the forums but having no luck at all.

I have a Bolero Unit in my Superb Greenline SE, but it has no MDI, no USB, and no Bluetooth, so no way of connecting my iPhone to it.

Is there any way of me connecting a USB cable to the rear of the unit, or can anyone direct me to anywhere that sells a compatible MDI and bluetooth connection box.

Any help would be awesome guys.

What is it you are specifically looking for?

The Bolero unit (same as mine) has a AUX input which is located in the armrest storage box - you'll need a 3.5mm male to male lead but these are quite cheap. AUX is selected from the Media menu on the Bolero, however if not present it may need activating from within the System settings.

This will allow you to stream music from a phone or MP3 player into the Bolero - you have no control on the Bolero though.

I use this method to play back podcasts which my phone automatically downloads.

Thanks for the quick reply Coops.

I drive hundreds of miles a day, so use the iPhone as my GPS, and Internet Radio streamer too, so I'm looking for a way to connect it to the stereo unit and mount the phone on the dashboard, as oppose to having wires dangle everywhere. I'm looking for a much neater, more professional fit.

No probs, you'll probably need to investigate either retro fitting MDI or adding in a Bluetooth module then I guess.

I can't help on either of these but there will be plenty on here who can, and will no doubt advise.

Thanks Nathanio!

I'm assuming that bluetooth and MDI cable in one will work with my Bolero in my Superb?

Will the MaxiDot or Radio need reprogramming or should it all just refresh?

Many thanks for your help, it is very much appreciated by a new Škoda owner.

Theoretically yes, it uses the quad lock adapter that VW stereos now use.

You need to get the car coded to work with it. Put a post in the VCDS section and i'm sure a friendly member will help for a few beer tokens.

Well this is working out harder than I thought. Bought the above wiring loom, but it didn't come with the bluetooth module or the mdi module.

Managed to find a bluetooth module now, but why is the MDI box so expensive? £50 for a second hand used part. At this rate it'll have cost me £400 just to get bluetooth and MDI working in the car. Surely it shouldn't be this expensive!?

I just went for the Skoda recommended Nokia Bluetooth dealer-fit accessory, works great with the iPhone and was a lot less than £400.

For music I just use the SD card built in to the Bolero. Sure it's not as convieneint as the live streaming direct from your phone but the SD card holds almost my entire music collection and displays in Maxidot...

£400? Maybe £160 but not £400. If you look back at my original reply you'll see how I've tried to link to nearly everything. I've added BT to the wives Fabia for £120 and that was cable plus BT module. New cable and module from Poland.
