Calling all people with stock speakers

Featured Replies

Get yourself over to ebay right now, £27 a pair and 500 times better than the originals, can't believe I hadn't done it sooner! (also "custom fit" so fit under original grills etc for OEM look and so not to attract thief's, just currently cleaning grilles, take seconds to fit ).574072ab4c4eb62a6da3748bc67fbcf1.jpg2c3e30ed2c2853920a68e88115fb45c1.jpg

Oh ok, hadn't come across those, so many out there its almost overwhelming. I was just so impressed with mine for £27 I thought I'd let those still with standard ones know. Of course for people who have more time to spend researching and know their products well there are even better speakers. What have you got in your car in terms of stereo etc? I'd be interested as you know your stuff well

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of making an auditorium or a rolling club from a car. Radio information is OK though. To me the car is a means of transportation and if I want to listen HiFi music, I do it at home. A car needs massive money and effort to be suitable for HiFi. You need high quality soundproofing of the entire body of the car. Then I am asking myself: for what? What is the main activity a driver should stay focused on? It is driving, and unless you're stuck in traffic, music is a distraction for the driver. Many accidents happened because the driver couldn't hear vital sounds from the environment, including from their own car systems. You can't hear horns, sirens, train passage bells, police whistles, etc. Unless you listen to the music at very low volume, you're cut out from the rest of the world, you are deprived of a basic sense, the hearing. The same happens when pedestrians put earphones to/into their ears and listen to the music while walking, except as a driver the environment is 10x potentially more dangerous. There were cases when people got hit by a car although they could have had a last moment defense reaction but they were oblivious of what happened around.

That being said, my only modification was to change front speakers with those mentioned above and to add 2 rear speakers from the same producer. See Pyle - PLG46.3 - 4'' x 6'' 180 Watt Three-Way Speakers Each Pair : $35.32. When I have rear passengers, I fade the music more to the rear speakers. I changed them because the original speakers are too low quality.

I run vibe ones in mine and amped did you know that the standard wireing is back to front...

I just used some really cheap component speakers from halfords, they were only about £15 on clearance if i recall because some of the fixings were missing from the box

Thank you !

There was no ebay, aliexpress, forums etc when i bought it so i had to improvise-work by myself a lot.

Those new buyers have it all from the factory.
