Tablet suggestions

Featured Replies

I'm on the hunt for an android tablet. Looking for 10" screen. What's good around £200?

Either an Asus Transformer or Samsung Galaxy tab.

Usually there are deals on both around. Tesco almost always have a bank holiday sale. Keep an eye on hotukdeals for the next week if you're looking to get straight away

google nexus 9 currently down to £199 at pC world, serious discount - 9 inch but it's not noticeably smaller than the 10 inch ones

Is that the 16gb?

I have a Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and love it, its only 16gb but boosted capacity with a 64gb SD Card. Its really fast and the screen is so close to the edge of the tablet that I dont miss a larger screen and the resolution is epic.

Pretty new tech and can be had for a pinch over £200

Asus transformer 10.1" with keyboard + £20 voucher £179

SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab 4 10.1" Tablet - 16 GB with Chromecast (£20 play credit when chromecast activated) £189

Both have microSD slot to expand storage

yup

There are rumours Apple will be doing a 12" iPad (aka the MaxiPad). Colours will include red (with a hint of brown).

I'd suggest avoiding the 16Gb unless it has an SD card slot. It's just a bit too limited in size.

Galaxies are popular tbh.

Can't fault the Galaxy Tab Pro that I have - the only annoyance out of the box was the "newspaper screen" but installed a launcher on it and don't have any issues with it now. Fast, good resolution, memory expandable from 16GB on board to 80GB (16 +64GB - higher might be possible but not looked at anything that size).

That is one thing to be aware of with android tablets - if you don't like the "standard" set up out of the box, get one of the many launchers and it will feel like a different experience.

I've got the Samsung Galaxy tab 4. Cannot fault it!

Got a galaxy tab s in post xmas sales. Pricy but there was a 100quid cash back from samsung at the time.

very good unit and tried to future proof my purchase a bit 10in screen

Thanks guys. The Tablet is a birthday present for the wife :x

She currently has a galaxy tab 2 which has been great but the screen is slow to respond so thought i'd get her something newer.

I did fancy something with a removable keyboard but think the Galaxy tab 4 is the winner, Argos are currently doing it for £179.99 too.

Even better...Tesco and Currys have it for £159.99

Don't forget to go via a cashback site and get more back.

Samsung Galaxy TabPro

Theres a big differencee between a Tab 4 and the high end Samsungs being recommended here, both in capability and price.

I currently suffer a low-end samsung product, and apart from looks and style, it has nothing to recommend it.

At the low end of the market the Tesco Hudl is probably one of the best deals.

yes Hudl 2 reviews very well.

Lots of negative comments around the web regarding Samsung's addiction to bloatware.

worth remembering if you've only got money for a low end device and you're looking at a Samsung tab

I've got the Samsung 10" Note 2014" and find it a great tablet. The screen and S pen are highlights, Samsung's bloatwear is a lowlight. The Tab Pro is currently selling for around £200 ish and I think it has the same screen-but no pen. It's a stunner and is great if you want to watch movies and such like on it :) The Micro SD card slot is really useful too :)

I have a Samsung phone and also recently got a Samsung telly back in my bedroom at my parents and discovered by accident that these devices talk to each other superbly. The channel on the TV is mirrored on the tablet (assuming both are on the same wifi network) and you can change the channel you're watching on the tablet, which at the same time changes the channel on the TV. It's a sort of mirroring but with remote control. Good for watching the telly while lying in the bath :D (my brother does something similar when on the toilet :( )

But one great little feature is the tablet can show the mobile phone screen on it's own 10" one. So if you are on a train/plane and your phone is stored in an overhead locker, you can run it from your tablet (obviously in a plane the phone wont ring :D) You see the phone screen exactly as it exists on the phone itself and can swipe it on your tablet screen in exactly the same way as you would on your mobile. It's a neat trick and a good way to listen to music on your phone, but using your tablet :)

So, if you think you might buy a Samsung smart phone or a Samsung connected telly, the Sammy Tablets are a great investment. The downside of all this is you sell yours soul to Samsung, not as bad as selling it to Apple though as it's still mostly your good old familiar Android software

How do you manage this? I've got the same Note 10.1 and a Note 3. I can mirror the screen from either to my Samsung TV but I can't find a way to do the same between phone and tablet.

If it helps, although possibly not judging by the deals listed, I picked out the top selling tablets on amazon. Not scientific by any stretch and the market is moving quickly as most tech markets do.

Anyhow, see the depot tablets area: http://depot.briskoda.net/c/12

It's called side sync, but you need something like a Galaxy S4 onwards I believe,  to pair with a reasonably modern Tablet.
