MAF sensor wiring help needed

Featured Replies

Hey everyone!

Well long story short... there's only 1 pin on the maf sensor plug that has 5v going through it, the other 3 are showing less than 1v. What's the best/easiest/ most likely area of wiring to check first?

Thanks,Em

Anybody?

Are you sure that the maf is meant to have voltage on all the pins? Surely the others must be returns to the ecu?

From other posts I've read, i think its supposed to have at least 1 thats supposed to be 12v?

Yep, looking at a wiring diagram that I'll post when I get a longer minute, pin 2, a black/yellow wire should have 12V with ignition switched on.  That might mean you have a blown fuse. Check fuse 7 (5 Amp) in the cabin fusebox. Linky to diagram.

Google vw maf sensor wirring, plenty of information

pin2 is 12v +    3,4&5 go back to the ecu   whose pin numbers vary depending on the ECU type  eg EDC 15 or 16 etc   the signal (from memory) is 5v  (key on) which is then altered to give a reading dependant on air flow and temp    I guess the 12 v is measured between the feed and an earth point

Thanks for the input everyone, its just so frustrating when there are soooo many wirey possibilities!!!

Ho-hum, Google founds it.... Here

Though I have to say, it took Google images search after I threw a strop at the workshop manuals site after I couldn't spot it there directly!

I couldn't find it through the workshop manual, its not the easiest to navigate! So thanks for doing that. The hard thing is trying to trace all the wires as the fuses have been checked. It's never a simple thing with my car.

Well, after months... fault code 17552 is rearing its ugly head intermittently.

Ive changed the maf, checked the voltage, checked and redone the earths under the battery box, checked vacuum pipes. It went off, drove fine for 30mins then switched it back on and the light was back.

I'm all out of ideas...anyone have any??

Did you ever find out what this was?
