Found a battery under the bonnet...

Featured Replies

I popped the bonnet yesterday to check the oil and noticed this sitting on the battery tray.  It is a "NEBO" branded AAA battery. I don't know where it could have come from.  The car hasn't reached it's first service yet.  The only work that's been done is the window tint.  I haven't done any work in there other than using a hair dryer to clean condensation out of a headlight and don't have any tools that would use such a battery.  My first thought was that it is maybe a backup for the factory alarm, but I couldn't find any place it would have come from.  I have read complaints that Skoda has cheaped out on battery capacity, but this is a little too much...

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm sure nothing under the bonnet needs a AAA battery!

Very strange, a quick Google suggests Nebo hail from the U.S. so my initial thought of it being of Czech origin has been scuppered.

Perhaps it was laying in the road, you drove over it and somehow flicked it up into the engine bay?

Or maybe the dealer you bought it from uses some sort of battery operated diagnostics equipment or even a torch, Nebo seem big on flashlights etc.?

Hmm....

I thought is might be Czech or German, too.  I'm American and haven't heard of that brand, but all the writing is in English.

Maybe somebody left a flashlight in there...

Probably someone on the production line dropped it when they were changing the battery in a tool, or their walkman. When my mate took the carpet out of his Polo, he found some early 80's german coins that we assume fell out of someone's pocket on the line.
