Only 4 weeks old and a problem

Featured Replies

Started my car this morning and it felt like something go when I pressed the clutch in,it wouldn't rev over 3500 and when I drove it,it seemed ok but low on power. If I pressed the clutch in whilst driving it felt like something rattling about under my foot, just got home and revved it and the engine missed at 3500 then revved higher to about 4500.Anyone got any idea what it might be?

Give Skoda Assist a call, let them have a look, you might be causing more damage by driving the car.

Probably a failed coil pack. Let us know what skoda say.

The AA? My car is just two years old and Skoda Assist (which I've not used) is (was?) provided by the RAC.....

Skoda assist in uk is in partnership with the AA and has been since we had our Citigo back in 2012.

Hope you get it sorted.

Skoda Assist came out and they are Skoda mech's not the AA,anyway turns out there's nothing wrong with the car and it's meant to have the low rev's being the Greentech. He said if there's anything wrong even a blown bulb they will come out and I can take my car to a Skoda Dealer nearer to me than the one I bought it from which is brilliant.

Strange. I had to call the 'Skoda Road Side Assistance' three times when I first got my Citigo. First two times were RAC vans, third time was a grey Volkswagen Technician van, in association with RAC.

Sounds like there's definitely something's not quite right. Let us know what they say is up!

I had to phone Skoda when I couldn't work out why my car wouldn't start and the key wouldn't turn

Turned out I'd locked the steering wheel

Took this from the Skoda website

"Free ŠKODA Assistance for 3 years

We're proud of the reliability of our cars and our owners seem to agree - that's why we've been awarded 'Best Manufacturer' in the 2014 Auto Express Driver Power survey.

In the unlikley event that you do have a problem, we provide 3 years', unlimited mile, european-wide roadside assistance with all our new cars. We'll even help you if you lock your keys in the car, or put the wrong fuel in!

We've chosen the AA, the UK's No1 breakdown provider* to provide this service for us, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It doesn't matter who's driving your ŠKODA, they can call if they're in trouble. All new ŠKODAs supplied by ŠKODA Auto in the UK are automatically entitled to the service, both over here and when driving in Europe. So if you are one of the few unlucky ones, at least help can be on its way with one phonecall".

Anyway glad the OP got it sorted.

Funny, my sister bought a Citigo last week during the process she took a greentech for a test drive and it did strange things and sounded a bit poppy and spluttery and the revs were all over the place.

You are aware that you can't rev the 1.0ltr triple engine to max revs in neutral?

Its capped at about 3,500 /4,000 rpm to protect the engine - a lot of owners think this is a fault.... its not!  :D

You can only rev it to the red line when driving and in gear.

As Camlep once said, its the "Launch Control" feature :x

It's to protect the driveline. It's for to protect against those "launch control" guys. MB had same feature back in 90's. :notme:

one interesting thing, a couple of weeks after I part-ex'd my GLII, I got a letter from the AA, offering to allow me to extend my "genuine skoda assist" for up to 2 years

from memory it was about £80 / year,

so unlike when the RAC did the skoda assist you can now extend it, cutting another route for the stealer to extract money from the customer

now just need skoda to provide a proper central warranty extension without having to buy third party warranty, or are skoda UK not willing to warranty their cars after 3 years

I think their cars are not reliable enough to cover for 5 years unlike toyota, Hyundai, Kia and chevrolet. Thats why my next car will most likely be a Kia with 7 year warranty. Come on VAG catch up with the competition.

I've got a 5 year warranty with my citigo

But someone paid for it though, Shirley?  The dealer might have done or you might have done but SUK didn't (unless they've starting offering 5 year manufacturers warranties recently).

Wether you pay £500 for an extended warranty to 5 years from Skoda, or they include a 5 year warranty and bung £500 on the list price, who cares, rather have the choice. Do you think the kia 7 yr warranty is free? Is it buggery, your just forced to pay for it without it being listed as an option. Same as the radio.

As above someone had paid for it somewhere. If you look into warranties they aren't always very good.

well, talk about timing

had an email from skoda about extending my warranty, link below and my car details removed

https://www.skoda-extendedwarranty.co.uk/VWFS/Vehdets.aspx

couldn't get a price as it would have ment putting a load of details in

seems to have two levels of warranty (everything covered, or piece by piece)

mileage seems to be taken into account as well as three bands of mileage (less than 10,000 , 10,000 -15,000 and more than 15,000)

one less way for dealers to make a profit
