May look like tin foil, is paint protection film. Wiring loom and power steering unit to be fitted this week. Had a re-jig in the engine bay to improve weight distribution as well.

Bought this Lotus Elan for a good price.

If it's "just an Elan" you've probably paid a good price knowing you. There were various race aimed updates of the Elan (and Europa) and if it's actually one of those you'll have paid a great price, so check.

It's had the full works, with many 26R (Elan race spec apparently) parts including the stronger chassis with less flex, coming to around £42,000 spent on it in the last four years.

I paid a bit over half that.

Now that's a bargain and a half! Can't wait to see it in the flesh!

Oh yes. What I was thinking is that you should check original chassis and body part numbers in case it's an actual unrealised 26R. If it was, you could be talking in terms of it being worth about 3x what you're saying you paid, and more if has "famous driver" history.

It's not actual 26R, it's a 26R spec upgraded car.

The odd thing about this car is that it's had all the 26R upgrades added, but as a 1970 car isn't worth that much.  They spent all that money on the wrong car...

Because it's too new to be FIA approved for historic events due to being a series 4 Elan.

 

If I can find a Series 1 or 2 old ropey one I can swap everything over and immediately have a great spec and very fast 26R Elan that will instantly be worth a lot more as it will be FIA approved.

It's a winter project for 2016/2017.

Also got an email this morning that our Brisky Racing support and tow vehicle is due to be delivered just before the end of March, so will have it for the first race weekend. (9th and 10th April)

Which is handy.

Just a reminder if anyone is coming along / helping out / thinking of doing their ARDS test...

 

Brisky Racing does have the Puma available for the CSCC races we are doing and it's pretty well set up and will be in the thick of it on track once you get used to it.

Sharing costs = cheaper racing.

 

In the 1600-1800cc class with the other Pumas.

Very much considering ARDS test at some point.

although i am sorely tempted to sell the Ibiza and use this for both weekends competing and adaily drive
