Alternators can be a bit of a pain.. especially if it's non standard. If youve a denso type fitted with non standard brackets, worth checking the alternator belt alignment as some of the brackets out there are a bit crap. A few Chinese copy's of alternators out there of dubious quality as well, though might just be the high revs killing it.

Anyhow, all the best for Sunday, for both you and Damo, you both must be pretty excited about it, no doubt it will be a great day for you both. Be safe and no doubt we'll see you at some point during the day.

So, my first race day with an unproven car...

 

Expected it to do well or break, it did exactly that.

 

It did well... then broke.

 

I did most of the qualifying session.  Started easy, came into the pits to think about it, got told to get a move on and went out on it.

Went from 7th to 1st, then broke the gearbox (again).

Set a great time, 54.3 seconds.

Was a touch damp but the track was drying.  A WTCC shell Focus (new shape) just crept in front by 0.15 seconds after I stopped putting me in 2nd place after qualifying.

 

To say I was over the moon was an understatement.

 

Kester (Other very quick Fiesta ST) came in about 0.3 seconds behind me in 3rd giving us a Focus - Fiesta - Fiesta top 3.  Awesome!

 

 

Touch and go if the gearbox was going to be done for the race, then they cancelled lunch and brought everything forward as the fog was coming in.

So couldn't get the car done to race.

 

Shame, but so pleasde I took it out for qualifying to see what it can do against other cars on the same track at the same time as the competition.

Unfortunately Kester then had a shunt on 1st lap of the race with the Focus and didn't finish also.

Damo make a sensible decision starting away from the first lap mayhem in the first few corners and brought the car home for 2nd place in our class. (C - 2,000cc Fiestas)

Congratulations to him for picking up his 2nd trophy in only three races.

It was a good day anyway Richard. When you came back out everyone, from our viewpoint, could see you were on a mission and overtook lots! It was excellent to see the car going so well and then to have a mechanical fault and have to pull out at the end disappointing. But given the shunt that happened possibly a good thing. Onward and upwards for next year!

I'm amazed you can use any name you want to race with. Thought they would use everyone's surname as on a divining licence or a race licence  

Just to echo Richards comments really, epic race day from both viewpoints... I chose to stay at the back knowing what Paddock is like for a race start so avoided the early incidents then pulled a corking move passing two cars 3 abreast through Clearways... It can be done but it's tight oh and I went round the outside [emoji847]

At least you can see the source of my confusion

Some bloke changing his name by deed poll maybe .. His race team entry in the programme had a similar reference to Dr something or other, sometimes they choose silly names etc to give the commentators something to talk about, any publicity is good publicity I suppose.
