Mini 0805 camera, most reliable source.

Featured Replies

Hi Guys.

I want to replace the Roadhawk HD with something smaller (Roadhawk's crap TBQH) and I was wondering if you can tell me which retailer do you recommend to get one?

I'm considering Amazon, but any others?

Thanks Simbo, is that an E Prance one or just a generic one?

I have a E Prance 0801 "The Original" includes GPS, as recommended by Fubar  £59.99 off Amazon.

check gearbest.com for the above dash cams, i got a 0805, its really cheap, infact they have the 0806 cheaper than the group buy. How ever it does take a long time on the boat from china to arrive.

Then there's the returns issue, should the camera go wrong.

Precisely. I'm on my 2nd 0806 (from China). Total down time of over 2 months. Now the replacement is playing up. I've come to the conclusion both the faults are caused by the (improved?) mount. Both cameras  have the same faults  -slow & intermittent GPS fix & crackly distorted sound & internal battery failing to charge. It seems that the contact pins (which are actually gold plated in the "improved" mount), only make intermittent contact. Not sure what to do really: can't be arsed sending it back again. Might consider drastic action of permanently wiring camera to the base. OK, so I lose the facility of removing camera from the car - but I can live with that if it fixes the faults.

Shame really because its small profile & video quality are good, - best video i've seen from a Dashcam.

I have a new (still in box) Mini 0806 camera for sale, with all the extra's possible including 128GB Samsung Micro-card and adapter.

If interested either send me a PM, or, see separate entry in the 'FOR SALE' section part of 'Forums'..

I bought both of mine from http://r.ebay.com/3H3ELR

Got a tracking number on the day of purchase & it arrived the day after. The first one took 2 days to arrive. No probs so far & definitely a camera I'd recommend.

Soooo back to the original topic...

Maybe a 'fulfilled by Amazon' purchase would be the best source if something goes wrong. Pay a bit more to alleviate some of the risk.

The one you linked above pays for return postage anyway if it's faulty, no obligation return also offered at buyers cost for return if not faulty.  Fulfilled by Amazon is no assurance of genuine products as seen with memory fake hacked memory cards etc. They don't source the products just store and ship them for the seller. You get to use their customer service too, but fulfilled items are not as well provisioned for in that sense for the likes of delivery problems. If it gets lost on route they will not send a replacement for example, only refund. That means if price has changed in the mean time you loose out :(

That said, even that's inaccurate. None of them actually have a working parking guard & the lane detection warning system (LDWS) is a gimmick...

Various testing & experiments, night & day, the best quality pic I've found is using 2560x1080 @ 30fps.

Doesn't the 0805 have a shock/G sensor like the 0806 does?

Certainly ours (0806) wakes and records any bumps

Deleted!

Are you sure you aren't trying to mount it upside down?

I think you have the Australian Version    :notme:

Nah, it's me being a tw*t! I thought the only power input was on top of the camera, I didn't notice the one on the side of the GPS mount!

Should have gone to Specsavers

I bought a e prance 0801 from a uk ebay seller, it arrived the next day in a sealed amazon box, puzzleing?

it stopped charging the battery and intermitant recording after only 1 week, phoned seller who said send it back and I will give refund, I am still waiting.

I was thinking of getting the 0805, but the answers to this posting have somewhat discouraged me.

Don't be discouraged, just remember that there's a power input on the mount, unlike I did and it should be fine. I'll see if I can fit it later.

Still not sure where to mount it though.  :wonder:

The battery only last 5 or 10 minutes if I remember and the recording glitch could be the Micro Memery card. If it's hard wired in the battery life shoudn't be an issue. I have a 0801 and it works perfect

Try a new card

it is hardwired and I tried a class4 and class10 card, the instructions do say not to use the class 10 because it may cause problems

My card is a Class 6 works OK

Whilst I appreciate that it may say this, it also sounds like total rubbish to me as why would a faster card work less effectively than a slower one?

Have you ever heard of a camera manufacturer telling you to use a slower card in preference to a fast one?

Well I'm pretty sure it's going back when I get back. Duff power cable/adapter. Not only is it not working, but it's way too short.

So unless I buy a 5m micro USB cable & plug & as I've tried my phones 2m micro USB cable and it works using that, but like I said it's going to be way too short, so definitely a 5m cable required. When I can get it to work it's very good.

Yes agreed the cable with 0805 and 0806 is too short, i bought a hard-wire kit, its actually quite simple to fit. You don't have any wires trailing, and it starts on ignition... i was concerned that the one time i forgot to plug in the cig lighter would be the time i had a bump... or i flattened my battery leaving it in all weekend :P

Just back now from the West Country... Just wondering whether to buy another one or just forget it and stick with the Roadhawk, which I'm not happy with.

Bit pushed for cash at the moment, might be a bit more pushed than I thought, after encountering a speed cop. 32-33 in 30. Obscured by a lorry!

I have an 0803 which I am dead happy.

I will be changing the car over the next 2 months and am thinking of getting a new one for the front and use the 0803 on the rear.

Any preference for the 0805 or 0806?

Mine went back yesterday, when I did get a couple of minutes of footage out of the 0805 I was quite impressed, but that's all I got from it. Nowt more.

My Roadhawk is in the glove box the mount has come off and so not impressed and I'm not impressed with it's night capabilities either.

And watch the company who sells Roadhawk cameras, if you leave a negative review on their website they delete it, so it would suggest that they're not an honest bunch.

if you view techmoans review about the 0806, he no longer recommends it, so my choice is the 0805 which I will be buying when I get the refund for my faulty 0801 that I returned
