Economy Remap... Is there one?

Featured Replies

Mind you I keep thinking back to my scoob and there it was always posted about large power gains in excess of 50/100 bhp with no chat of unreliability.

So why not on a Fabia???

Because Scoobs are already unreliable? :P

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Not quite the factual answer I was searching for

Just because your car is remapped it does not mean you have to put your foot down,so no need for a lesser remap just dont put your foot down as hard.I went for revo after being a littlr worried about a few threads saying it is a bit all or nothing with a big tourque hit.I was suprisd at how smooth the car drives and at normal throttle aplication it is smoother than standared and very economical, the great thing is if you want a little more just press a little harder and you cant help but smile,I guess im trying to say i am very suprised at how refined the power is a swell as damn fast, also no smoke, and you can switch it on and off in 10 seconds and the revo man says they have never had a revo map detected when switched off.I cant comemt on other maps im sure they are good too all im saying is dont discount revo Im very happy and would do it again, in fact i am getting my Gti done very soon well as soon as i get the spare cash ;)

I think us Furby vRS owners are all "smart" (not that I like to stereotype of course:rofl: ). We bought a modest performance car with extraordinarily good economy and reliability at an ubelieavalbly good price. Its unlikely that such an intelligent person would jump into spending huge amounts of money on modifications that are likely to spoil the positive attributes we bought the car for in the first place.

Dare I suggest that whilst I am in no way suggesting Subaru owners are not as "smart", they may have purchased their cars in the full knowledge that they aren't the most reliable on the road, and hence are not as concerned about modifications affecting said reliability?

I am of the understanding that Revo is quite an aggressive map with a big hit of torque low down in the rev range. I think you could do with a custom map, I'm sure the gurus at both Jabba and JBS (to name only 2 of many) could indeed come up with a remap tailored to your requirements.

That`s the comments I had read before I had revo and to be honest nearly put me off getting it,but the map is super smooth and I can not see how it could be noticably any better

Aren't the most reliable? Where's that coming from?

Chris

And when you crash into another car' date=' or hit a pedestrian what will you do?

Or if you're badly injured and taken to hospital having killed a 3yr old by accident, the traffic police will take the car away to examine it. Once the insurer knows its been remapped they will void your policy.

Now what do you do about it?

[/quote']

How many times have u been in accident?? If your badly injured the car would be a Wreck anyway UNABLE TO TEST.

And the police would only test brakes ,tyre ,and calculate speed of accident . ect.... A Minor accident police wouldnt even come out!

So your happy to drive around with invalid insurance and post about it on a public forum? nice

yeap

Both the Furby and octy vRS's are well known for remapping by insurance companies. Unless the car is burnt out, then they WILL remove the ecu and check it. The ecu doesnt need to be in the wrecked car to be given a going over.

Good point. I will talk to my insurance this week then.

Unable to test! Not strictly true the car would have a roadside measuring to determine the way it crashed and assist in factors involving style of driving and speed at impact

The car then will be removed to a compound and they can then asess whether the steering had problems, brakes handbrakes throttlesgearboxes everything!

Trouble is I have seen the results of too many dead people in cars and have spent many nights cutting them out in varying states of disrepair and thats just the driver!!

Just read back on this and noticed a slight hijack of the original chat. Just like to say thanks for the info on re-mapping, I am still undecided on whats best mind. Leaning towards AMD as it would be a damn sight easier to travel to for me. Thats the only thing I can boil it down to as there seems to be nothing in it!
