Fed up with waiting

Featured Replies

Ordered an octavia vrs March 12th with quite a few extras and still waiting for delivery. It was built on week 16 then say at emden for three weeks and only arrived at Grimsby last Sunday . I have kept in contact with my dealer but I just feel they keep fobbing me off with excuses the last one guaranteeing delivery today and collection this weekend. I hadn't heard anything so I called them to be told it will be sometime next week and when I said I couldn't get it next week they became a bit pushy. As anyone else experienced this or am I just unlucky?

They have no control over how long it takes to arrive in the country. I know it's annoying waiting but TBH not much can be done to make it go faster :(

Don't worry though, when you eventually get it you will be very happy! :)

The reason you haven't got it is that it was damaged at Grimsby and their bodyshop is fixing it!

Hopefully the slightly extended wait will make it an even better experience? ;)

I must have been lucky as mine was built and In the country, delivered to the dealers and picked up by me in less than 3 weeks.

Go back a year and see the experience we had, ordered in week 1, delivered in week 26. Think yourselves lucky!

Just checked and mine was built on 16/10/2014 and I collected on 08/11/2014 (after delaying it 5 days so I could collect on a Saturday). I ordered on 01/07/2014.

We're collecting our scout on Monday, it was ordered 16th March, built week 17, but has been at dealers for over a week as we've been away and the paperwork needed sorted - they'd hoped to have it before we went away but the wait for the boat was a tad longer than expected and the transporters this side were a bit random - I'm sure they are correct in what they are now saying.

My vrs was exactly 5 months from order to delivery

Day 365 and counting. Ordered 31/5/2014, built 24/2/2015, missed first boat and then finally loaded on ship "Tiger" which left Brugge 17/4/15 and arrived Fremantle Australia 20/5/15.

Dealer still waiting to take delivery of vehicle but I have been assured it will be this week.

It has been a long and sorry ordeal and I won't bore you with the details but...

For those of you that say you are fed up waiting or are getting impatient, wait a year for your vehicle and then get back to me.

Thats a long time but then its a frigging long way to get a newly built Octavia from CZ all the way to Aus.

Sounds like the wait is nearly over so enjoy it when it arrives. Many in the UK have endured 5-6 month waits for their cars and they have far less distance to travel so delivery delays are all too common across the board.

I was told recently by a VW dealership that average delivery times for a factory order Mk7 Golf GTD to the UK was 6 months when officially they are stated as being 12-14 weeks :-)

12 months!

I'm sure it could have been built and driven to you quicker!

Thankfully mine was 9 weeks from order to collection.

Any idea why it took nine months to build? That's where the real delay was. Once it finally got built the delivery times don't look all that bad. I've only been waiting five weeks and I'm already feeling impatient. Only about eight weeks left to go.

When we ordered our vehicle on 31/5/2014 I was originally told our vehicle would be delivered sometime between August and October 2014. At that time I thought ok at worst we should have our vehicle in Nov. 2014.

Then in July 2014 we were told our vehicle wouldn't be delivered until 2015, at which point I requested our vehicle be built in 2015 as I didn't want to be collecting a vehicle manufactured in 2014 in 2015, with the associated depreciation. We also changed the colour from Candy White to Black Magic Pearl at this time.

In September 2014 our dealer rang to advise that a Comfort Pack had now been added to the available options. The Comfort Pack includes: heated leather seats front and back with red stitching, electrically adjustable drivers and passenger seat, with driver's memory function, automatically fold-able door mirrors with auto dimming, memory function and environment lights. We added this option pack to our order.

So at this point in September 2014 we had effectively made three changes to our original 31 May 2014 order, the 2015 manufacture request and colour change in July 2014 and then the addition of the Comfort Pack in September. While the dealer claims that changes can be made to an order anytime while it is in hold status, posts I have read on an OZ Skoda forum suggests if you make any change you slip to the bottom of the list.

We were finally allocated a build date of 24/2/2015.

Following manufacture the vehicle was delivered to the port in Belgium at the beginning of March only to "miss the boat" along with 13 other vehicles. It has finally left the port in Belgium on 17/4 and arrived in Fremantle on 20/5, approximately 51 weeks after we ordered it.

It was my birthday on 29/5 and I had requested the vehicle be delivered by then as we have a public holiday in Western Australia today and my wife and I had planned a 1500km road trip to the south coast of Western Australia (Esperance for anyone familiar with WA) to run the vehicle in. But as of 29/5 the vehicle has still to be delivered to the dealer.

I sent an e-mail to the dealer on 29/5 expressing how disappointed I have been to have to wait more than 12 months for our new vehicle and how this has greatly diminished the impending excitement of receiving the new vehicle. The dealer assures me that we will receive the vehicle this week so hopefully that is the case and my wife and I will take a day off work and fulfill the planned road trip.

Six-seven months is generally the expected delivery time for individually optioned/specced Skoda Octavia RS vehicles to arrive in Australia. It must be appreciated that Skoda is a relatively small seller in Australia, hovering around number 23 in list of vehicle sales. I suspect that VAG Australia doesn't want to allocate too many vehicles to OZ as it would undermine the VW brand, which is marketed as a premium European brand in Australia and is generally priced higher than competitors.

It is really about expectations! To originally be told in May 2014 that the vehicle would be arriving between August-October 2014, which I assumed meant it would be November at the worst and then in July to be told it would in 2015; note at this time we had made no change to our original order.

If the dealer had advised us at the time that any changes would delay our order we would have been prepared. Instead we optimistically thought we would have the vehicle by Easter 2015 and had accordingly planned leave so we could take a road trip in our new car.

I don't hold the dealer responsible, it is Skoda and in particular Skoda Australia that ultimately must wear responsibility for the long delays in delivery times. While Australia may be allocated a small number of vehicles per year and this may be due to VAG Australia; really it is incumbent on the vehicle manufacturer to ensure that the vehicles allocated to Australia are delivered in a timely manner. Yes we are a long way away but shipping time is only 5 weeks.

Sorry for the long post but I thought I would clarify the reasons for the delay; besides it is a public holiday here and I am copying music to an 64GB SD card ready for the new vehicle and the long planned and twice cancelled road trip.
