Towbar company

Featured Replies

I've just rang 2 mobile tow-bar fitting firms and both said they could not fit to my 2012 superb as it had the "funny boot-tailgate thingy".

I'm in the south yorks region , can anyone recommend a good company (mobile or not) in my area .

I'm after a detachable with only single socket electrics required but have read on here the many problems some have had with tcs and re-coding issues  etc.

I used a certain local firm in the past and had issues with reversing sensors on my 55 mondeo and it was a royal pita so i don't want to suffer that again in my superb .

Are they talking about the twindoor? They shouldn't need to go near that to install a towbar, though everything else on the back does need to come off to get the bumper off to fit the towbar. I had an OEM install in the garage I bought my car from but the reverse parking sensors didn't acknowledge the trailer being connected until they changed a control module.

Both guys said all the inside of the boot/hatch lining had to come out and they encountered problems that they couldn't rectify , needless to say they wouldn't touch it!

Ring up your local Skoda dealer and ask them which company they use to fit tow bars. Most will tend to outsource to a local car electrics firm.

I can 1000% recommend Mobile towbar services from beighton in Sheffield, They have fitted 4 towbars to my Skodas, 3 Octavias and now my Superb, each time I have had dedicated electrics fitted, never an issue. This last time they fitted a witter detachable with dedicated electrics to my superb estate and they also fitted the same set up to my sons 2011 superb twindoor. They are fantastic todeal with. The fitter left my sons car exactly as he found it trim wise. their website is

Thanks to all for the replies

I can strongly recommend PCT automotive at Holbrook Industrial estate. They did my Octavia, my previous Octavia Scout and the BMW 330d before that. They are very professional, nice waiting area and the price was the best I could find. I have no connection with them, but I'm picky who works on my car and I found them to be very good

As you said in your post , They left the car exactly as they found it . In fact the job is so neat with the retractable electrics you cannot tell the car has a towbar in the "detached" state. It's a very neat job indeed.

I would highly recommend these guys.

btw , the guys told me that the main dealers in the area use them , nuff said.

We used http://www.trailertrek.co.uk/.  They came out to my place of work in Milton Keynes and fitted a detachable towbar to my 2014 Twindoor Superb with no problems at all.  Cant remember how much it cost but was a good deal cheaper than through the dealer who wanted £750.

I hunted around for a detachable tow bar for my twin door with parking sensors. Most quotes were £560 but just turned up a local fitter at £350. Result

Local guy just fitted my detachable Witter towbar as above.

Brilliant. Towbar just clips in/out

When removed you see nothing whatsoever.

Top job. Top bloke.
