How Long Till Gear Changing Gets Smoother

Featured Replies

The car I test drove had smoother gear change but it did have 5000 on the clock.

Mine is some times a little reluctant to go into certain gears, I'm sure it will loosen up eventually.

My gears feel fine, expect first which is stiff as hell

Our Citigo ( 2,000 miles now) snicks between gears in a delightful fashion, and always has.

Mine was ok from day 1. Much more silkier at 20K though.

No problems here, occasionally I need to have a battle with reverse as it doesn't go into that gear all the time, just need to shove it into second then back to reverse

^^^That's how I remember mine was when cold, other than that it was a smooth change^^^

Gearbox is a dream, has been since Bedford :p

Only sometimes it doesn't like going into first reverse, but generally only if not driven for a day.

Exactly the 'issue' I've had, but it's not always, usually when cold. I can live with it.

I've had same with every manual gearbox I've had. No matter what was the manufacturer. No, wait! Opel Manta had synchronized reverse, it was different.

Reverse is great on mine, but mine is the new push down for reverse version, not sure if they have tweaked it?

If I ever have any difficulty (which is incredibly rare, from new to now (12,000)), I simply declutch and reclutch and into gear no problem. Typically this is only first and reverse.
