Touch-up paint

Featured Replies

Any recommendations please?  Main dealer or eBay?  Or somewhere else?

Some good car factors now have paint mixing available.

Just give them the paint code & they can mix up either a touch up, or an aerosol spray can.

I bought a touch up pencil (it's actually the double kit, paint and lacquer) online from,

Rainworth Skoda
Sherwood Oaks Business Park
Southwell Road West
Mansfield
Nottinghamshire
NG18 4GF

Don't buy non-genuine one's off ebay.

I bought one once (not for my Yeti) and the colour match was appalling - not even close.

Buy from Halfrauds, a "reputable" paint supplier, or get a genuine skoda set only.

Genuine Škoda, they are usually cheaper than Halfords as well

Out here, at least, Peugeot don't carry touch-up paint anymore.

Yes Ryeman, Peugeot have gone the Toyota way and use a product called Stickerfix. Not a new idea but when I used it on my previous Toyota you could tell straight away where it had been touched up ( stood out like a sore thumb). Also used by Kia .

^^^hmm, they didn't offer anything but a trade paint outlet said if you've got the code no problems.....it's the way things are going apparently.

I bought a genuine Skoda set at the time of purchase.

I should have tried for it as a freebie. Doh!

I'm not sure what the shelf life of touch up paint is but it could be the reason my dealer doesn't stock it.

I swear by Chipex Kits. A bit more expensive, but excellent results every time.

Chipex or Fix a Chip

I had my touch up paint for about months when I change my car and it was still ok

That was 30 months

Got Skoda touch up from dealer at competitive price. Mine is non - metallic so that may have helped - not in stock but only too a couple of days.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Local Skoda dealer charges £15 for a touch-up kit - seems incredibly expensive to me for a tiny little paint kit, but can't find a decent cheaper alternative.

Having said that, I've now found these from Halfords:

Halfords Skoda 'Black Magic' Scratch & Chip Repair Kit - £11.99    http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/cleaning-body-repair/scratch-repair-paint-restorers/halfords-skoda-black-magic-scratch-chip-repair-kit

Black Magic, Candy White, Brilliant Silver and Diamond Silver only, by the looks of it (£8.49 for the Candy White)  -  just one review, and that positive.

Also:  Halfords Skoda Candy White Car Spray Paint 300ml - £6.49     http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/cleaning-body-repair/car-spray-paints/halfords-skoda-candy-white-car-spray-paint--300ml

Black Magic, Candy White and Brilliant Silver only.

These all look considerably better value than the Skoda products if you happen to have one of the colours stocked - and I've always had good experiences with Halfords touch-up products in the past.

Another, cheaper, option, perhaps?

Halfords will mix paint to order. £11 for a 100ml bottle or £15 for an aerosol. We can also supply the wee touch-up pen for another £2.49 but only if your already getting the big bottle or can mixed.

Should probably state here that I work for Halfords!

It's not a guaranteed while you wait service, especially at this time of year. We can't look up codes or colours by reg no. So you need to have the code ready.
