im assuming as per title it's seen as too expensive, and tbh I'm on the verge of just keeping it, but any opinions welcome

It's nice, I like it a lot,  but if you flip it round from a buyer's point of view, it's hard to justify spending that much on a 10 year old car with over 100k on.

 

With it being modded and a private sale, there's that niggling doubt that if something major goes tits up a day after purchase, the buyer hasn't got any redress.

 

Were it mine, I'd keep it and enjoy it. The biggest problem with the Mk1 VRS is they don't make them any more.

Id think your looking at around £3000 upto £3500 (if you find the right buyer) if you really want to sell it

There's always the arguement of stick a high price on and enjoy it until someone wants it enough to buy it. I did it years ago with a really nice Porsche 924 when they were at the bangernomics stage of things.

 

Only downside is, some bugger bought it.

Hmm ok, that's a fair bit lower then I was expecting. Can't replace it with anything as good for that money so it may have to stay

A car is like a house. It's only worth what people are willing to pay for it.

That is true, just wanted a general consensus.

Personally i would want 5 grand for my bmw.

In reality i know i would probably acheived 3750-4000. Which is less than i would want for the car. So i have decided just to run it into the ground

£5k for a 10 year old car is a lot.

It's clearly a nice car, but you will be chasing a small number of buyers who will pay more for an older vehicle.

Being over 100k miles doesn't help.

You are asking the same kind of money as decent SE mk1 Fabia VRS go for.

Most people will go for the race blue car that's two years younger.

Have to say I do like it though.

Hopefully one of the small number of people that go for an older clean car like this will see it and fall in love with it.

I had to go back and double check my asking price then, it is 'only' up for £4495 as oppose to 5k, but I take on board everything else you say, cheers

Drop it under 4k, £3995 and I'd imagine it'll sell,

Only other options you have, return to standard, sell/swap parts plus cash to try cover what you need
